Logan just sneezed and whiteish/clear mucus came out of his nose. My vet isn’t in until Wednesday, but she gave me antibiotics to use for his chronic respiratory issues. She said to start the antibiotics whenever his sneezing gets worse. This is a new symptom for him. I really don’t want to take him to a different vet who doesn’t know his “respiratory history”, but the mucus makes me worried. Any thoughts on the best course of action? I would start him on the antibiotics again, but I’m not sure if it’s meant to clear up any new symptoms he gets. I feel like his health issues are never ending

I think you could start them, and make an appointment to see your vet for wednesday. I don’t see the harm if there is nothing wrong to start them especially as she gave them to you just in case. I would keep a close eye for any worsening (difficulty breathing, coughing, more sneezing, less eating etc-you know the drill) and see another vet if you *have* to. But I think it’s sunday now and providing things don’t worsen you could start meds and see the vet wednesday. It may help to write down anything you see. Keep us posted!

Thanks again for the help! He’s on the meds again as of this AM. I have a feeling she’ll want to put him on Baytril, because last time we were in, she said that if things got worse or didn’t change with the antibiotics she gave me, to come in a pick up some Baytril. I’ll call the vet when they open on Monday.
