Do any of your rabbits do anything weird that makes you laugh or make an eyebrow go up?

Chacha will groom her back foot and keep it stuck out.. it is hysterical

She also will loaf and fall asleep.. and only ONE ear will stay up  I think she is trying to tell me something

cady does the same thing with one back leg out, but sometimes in the middle he’ll fall asleep and it looks like he has  front paws, he also has a super loud flop,  out of nowhere you’ll just hear a thud. lol its amazing how loud such a little bunny can be!  Sophie hasnt shown anything too unusual other than anytime we try to leave her room she attempts to follow like a puppy and she falls asleep with her feet up on her litter box

Ever since we moved with my dad, Lolli has taken to growling every time she’s given treats or food. Cause you know, some other bunny may come out of nowhere and steal her food. LOL

She will sleep with one ear kind of half up too. Or eat with both ears completely down and back. “Lalalalalalala I can’t heeaaaarrrr youuuuuuuu!”

The way Momo flops, she just completely dead weights and it is so loud for such a small package. She will also sometimes sit in a bun (or loaf) with both ears flat against her back. Our roomie calls it “going streamline”. Or she will have one ear straight up and the other flat against her back. Her favorite playmate is also a 15 lb cat.

She loves to flop and completely roll over. Every time she does it, she has the most ridiculous look of joy on her little face She has also taken a recent fasincation with nibbling on my finger nails. I just got them done so I’m thinking maybe the polish or something smells different but she keeps trying to chew my nails

Eddie LOVED the smell of nail polish. He’d coming hopping over, all excited, like he was going to get a treat. Lolli doesn’t act the same, but she definitely doesn’t mind the smell either. Who knew? lol

Too funny! Every time she tries to chew my nails I ask her if she wants me to paint her nails. Kidding of course but how hilarious would that look, a bunny with painted nails

Huckles does that too! She like to eat like that as well.

She pushes her food bowl away from her water bowl and sleeps between them as if these two bowls are her dearest friends, the only ones that truly understand her haha.

When she was a baby, she would climb up to the back of the couch and chew on our hair. She stopped doing that several months ago though, probably around the time that we decided to put our shoes up there to keep her from eating our laces.

Olivia loves to steal stuff and run away. She’s a total klepto bunny! And she doesn’t want to give it back. She’ll stop running and set the object down and then take off again if you get near her. It makes me laugh out loud!

                          Things she’s stolen:

                          -Numerous pens and pencils
                          -My reading glasses
                          -a chopstick
                          -a hair clip
                          -Hello Kitty Watch
                          -Plastic Easter Eggs
                          -Pieces of paper
                          -small plastic toys

This is Olivia stealing a Happy Meal toy. She ran around for about 15 minutes with it.

Spencer sometimes bathes his chest and front feet from a flopped position. It looks amazingly silly, he almost looks like he’s talking in a very animated way with his head bobbing up and down. When I feed them their evening veggies, Kate will grab when of the carrots and run away with it to another part of the apartment, eat most of it but leave a nibbled up piece behind, go back to the veggies, grab another carrot and run away to a different part of the apartment, eat most of it and leave just a nibble up stub behind, and then return and eat the other veggies without this little sneaky thief act.

Hannah does the back leg thing too. She has such long skinny legs that I always tease her when she leaves one sticking out. It’s like she’s trying to hitchhike and showing a little leg. Haha.

Hannah mostly makes me laugh with her crazy facial expressions. Otto’s expression never changes, but Hannah is pretty expressive. Usually she sits up very tall and looks straight at us, a little nervous, like “What is going on over there? Huh? What’s going on guys?”

Otto will lay down in a loaf with his front feet stretched way out in front of him so he looks like a sphynx. It looks so uncomfortable, but he’ll lay like that for a while.

Eva also has a few facial expressions I noticed. One that I really enjoy is when she sees something in my mouth she wishes (like apple) – it’s almost like she’s grinning.

And, although not weird, I really love to watch her when she cleans her long, floppy ears – like ironing them with her paws

Hodari bites my nails, too. I don’t polish them and they aren’t very long; it seems like she just doesn’t think they should be there! Lol.

I don’t know if it’s weird or not since Hodari is my first rabbit, but another thing she does is measure and calculate distances. That’s what it seems like anyway. Before I let her out to play each day I set out some boxes and tunnels for her to investigate and run through. I arrange them differently every time and sometimes put out new ones that she hasn’t seen before. She always does an inspection first. You can just imagine her going around with a pencil, paper, and measuring tape. She hops up to a box or tunnel, taps it in various places with her nose, carefully strolls around it, looks it up and down, and walks on to the next box or tunnel and does the same thing. Occasionally she will move one of the tunnels over just a hair. After she’s satisfied with the inspection she will binky and then dash around the obstacle course. I often have it all set up on my bed because she seems to like playing up there. She never knocks anything off onto the floor depite her speed and fancy stop and go maneuvers. She knows exactly where everything is.

I just thought of another weird thing Oreo does. She looooves playing with plastic grocery bags. They’re not a part of her usual environment, she only comes in contact with them when I’m scooping out her litter box, so I’m right there to monitor what she’s doing. Mostly she likes to dig and smooth out the bag the same way she does to her towels except that when she “smooths” them, she ends up sliding forward slightly. Apparently this is great fun! She also loves to dig at the bag once its full of old litter/poos and all tied up. There have been several times where she’s almost ripped open the bag and spilled the dirty litter all over the floor

                                        Sungura, That is cool! Your bunny has a lot of patience to do this over and over. Bunnies like to know where things are, so they ‘map out’ their surroundings and expect things to be there all the time where they found them. My bunnies are very upset whenever I change up their habitats…they have to figure out what I did with everything and if it’s too unfamiliar they are too scared to explore it…after all, something that might eat them may have moved these things! 0_o;
I think rabbits are not the only ones that do something like this…watch any cat when you let it out from being indoors, it is sitting there on the sill or threshold, not just to annoy you -that’s a plus- but, calculating wind direction, what predators are around, if it’s raining or sunny, etc.
Oddly enough though, when my Mimzy lived outdoors for a few months when we first got him, he would bound out of his hutch into his fenced yard without doing much preparation. He met up with our outdoor Kitty one time and literally charged her at the fence to scare her off…I thought that was pretty bold of him.
His shed, though, had to have a place for everything and everything in it’s place. If I changed the position of things, he’d just sulk in a corner till I put it right.

Lani; my female bun, Pip, doesn’t like plastic bags at all and when I put one in her hab to take out old, dirty hay and bunny mess, she will attack it repeatedly. I have to be very careful I don’t let her get her teeth into it, she will start eating it.
I’ve been there with the bag ripping and stuff going everywhere…what a nightmare! 0_o
Her weirdest thing has been to crouch at one end of her habitat, then a burst of speed to the bunny mattress and jump on it with enough momentum to make it skid across the floor of the hab. She must’ve been a surfer in a past life. xD

                                        Fiver is also one of those ‘goes over as if shot’ bunnies when it comes to flops. Being my smallest, he makes this enormous THUD. And his legs go all stiff as he stretches them. Scared me to death when he first did it, I thought he’d had a little bunny stroke or something! 0_o;

And Pip and her hay eating routine. It is not enough for her to have a huge pile of hay…she must first burrow under it before she begins eating it. She literally looks like a walking haystack and carries it around to various parts of her habitat while she munches.

Fiver used to get bowls of canned pumpkin for an evening treat. While he would eat it, his backside would twitch. Apparently this is a sign that bunny is REALLY enjoying his food.

Mimzy used to play hide and seek with me. No joke! It was coupled with a kind of bunny peekaboo. I’d say, “Wheeeeere’s Mimzy?” and he’d peek over a box at me..then shrink back behind it…I’d call him again and he’d peek over, then disappear…suddenly he’d pop out either on top of the box or from the side of it and I’d call, “There he is, peekaboo!” and he’d do a sudden running binky that would take him about 6 feet away, then come running back and binky back to behind the box and the whole thing would start over again. Don’t know if that qualifies as weird, but it sure was hilarious.

I think nail polish has something in it that smells like banana oil…so if your bun likes the smell of nail polish, maybe banana is a favorite treat?

Lucy loves laying on plastic bags. Freaked me out at first because I was all OH NOES SHE’S EATING IT, but she doesn’t. I got her a “crinkle” cat bed, that seems to do the trick, but every now and again if there’s a stray bag on the floor she’s all over it…literally.

She licks our pillows. My husband sleeps with a fan pointing directly at his face and chest, and every time he goes to take a nap, by the end of the nap he’s got a rabbit on his chest. Butt facing the fan. She loves it. She’ll sit on the bed, right in front of it until I turn it on.

She will only eat out of ONE bowl. One. And I cannot change it. And it’s part of my actual dish set. So I’m down a bowl.

She HATES yellow. Hates it. Anything bright yellow gets her agitated.

She also steals! She once got into a stand off with the cat because she stole on of the cats toys and the cat got pissed. Lucy won, seeing as she’s bigger.

And she “sings” when she wants a banana. AND GOD HELP YOU IF YOU DON’T HAVE A BANANA WHEN SHE SINGS. She grabs her pen by a bar, picks it up and slams it on the ground until she gets one.

MissPinUp, you reminded me of something Otto does! Our front window is a bay window and when it’s warm I open up the left window to get a cross breeze going. Otto loves to sit in one spot on the rug, right where the breeze comes in from that window, and let the wind ruffle his fur. I couldn’t figure out why he loved sitting in that spot so much until I went and laid down next to him one time and felt the strong breeze. Silly guy.

These stories are so cute. They’re putting me in a good mood this morning.

MimzMum: I was trying a few nights ago to play peek-a-boo with Hodari. She sat up very tall in an alert posture, ears forward, body tense, and watched me out of the corner of her eye, which was open WIDE. All the while she was slowly inching toward me to circle the box I kept ducking behind. When I finally laughed and reached out to pet her, I swear a look of relief, followed by one of amusement, came over her face. It was as if she had been wondering if I was crazy, but when she heard my laughter, she realized I was just being silly. I’d love it if she’d initiate a game of peek-a-boo like Mimzy did! It would be so adorable.

MissPinUp: Lucy is such a character you ought to write a book about her!  And I ditto the request for a video of her singing for a banana. But not a bright yellow banana. Being agitated might ruin the song.

I think nail polish has something in it that smells like banana oil…so if your bun likes the smell of nail polish, maybe banana is a favorite treat?

Well that would explain it. Banana is Oreo’s crack. Seriously, if she gets a whiff of banana you’ll see her get really still, the nose stops wiggling and her eyes get reeeeeally wide…right before she attacks you in order to get to it.

Otto is really interested in nail polish, specifically the basecoat I use, but he hates bananas and acts like I’m trying to poison him. Haha

Momo has now started to develop some sort of attachment to the dog. She keeps trying to sit on him and snuggle up to him. Poor dog just does not know what to do and it freaks him out. Today he went and curled up in a corner while she was out and I think he was trying to interact with her in his own way.

Today I was feeding Maisy some treats and she grabbed one of my fingers in her mouth and tried to throw it! I think it was because I had just been teaching her how to play with her toy before that so she decided to give it a go with my fingers She was so gentle though, it was really cute!
