I’ve noticed that Porky spends a significant portion of his free exercise time in his condo, not out running around.  he doesn’t get free range all day, he only gets it when adults are available to supervise.  Is this common, or do we have an unusually lazy bunny?

When are you opening his cage? Samson is really active from about 6-7pm-12 or 1am, but most of the day he just sleeps.

Same with one of my buns, or sometimes he comes out but just lies there.

He might also feel safer in the condo. What’s the rest of the environment like during free time?

My rabbit is free roam (well, now she is) in the living room, dining room, hallway area. I’ve asked my dad what she is been doing all day and he replied “She just goes back into her condo and sleeps on the top floor.”
I believe she feels safest sleeping there.

                Perhaps Porky loves his condo

Certain times of day they are more likely to just sleep, so if you are letting him out then, he’ll just want to snooze

Lolli sleeps in her box the most. When we were at my apartment and she was free range, she found a spot (usually under something) and that’s where she stayed about 90% of her day. And a lot of times, she hung out in her pen area or in her box. Think of it as…..it’s home. You like going out and having fun, but you also like being at home, just hanging out.

My buns have their “spots” where they like to nap during most of the daylight hours too. Think about it this way – it’s great Porky loves his condo so much that it’s his favorite napping place .

Probably where he keeps his stash of magazines he reads when you aren’t looking

Most bunnies are pretty lazy. Mine are allowed out from 6pm-10pm, but will sometimes spend most of that in their cage. Even when I can drag them out to the living room, they then spend their time in the maze haven or laying out in the middle of the floor. Very little running around goes on 😉
