Last night before bed I was giving Momo some petting and a nice massage. She then started to lick my arm for about a minute. Then she started nipping and tugging at my shirt. Then she started attacking and digging like a mad woman at my shirt.

I get what the “kisses” mean, it is not the first time she has given me kisses. But the viscious, unprovoked attack on my shirt was quite new and confused us. Thank goodness it was just a pajama shirt.

Most rabbits like to dig at fabric whether it’s a blanket or a shirt you’re WEARING. lol I have no clue what it means other than it’s just something they like to do.

She is a big time digger. Cleans her litter for me almost every day all by herself. *glare* We were just confused that all of this spirited digging and tugging came immediately after all of that affection. It was very… random.

My bun does this too. She LOVES digging at fabric, especially if I’m wearing it.  It’s part of her play time and she has lots of towels and blankets to dig at for this very purpose. There have been many times that we’ll be cuddling and she’ll suddenly decide its time to play and go crazy digging at my clothes. Your bun might have just been happy after getting some love and wanted to play aka dig.

Have you tried giving her a diggy box? This may help focus her digging energy on something other than you or the litter box. Give her towels or shredded paper and a designated dig area/container and let her go to town. It also helps to hide a healthy treat in the box to get her interested.

Lolli starts digging when she’s done with snuggle time. Eddie always dug on my blankets I use no matter what the reason. lol

It might mean that she decided she was done with pets. Or she just decided it was time to dig. If she continues to do it after pets, then maybe it signals that she’s done. Or that she was all happy and decided to play. Bunnies are often very random.

Miles loves digging feverishly at my jeans. Bonus points if I just came back from the (horse) barn. It’s hilarious. Now he has his own pair of ratty old jeans on the floor for his digging pleasure!

Digging can mean a whole host of things – maybe one will make sense to you:

                    1. Dig out that scent so I can replace it with mine
                    2. Dig out a dent (called a scrape in the wild) to get compfy and more hidden (and cooler too)…and watch me flop right after I dig!
                    3. I”m mad and I’m not gonna take it anymore. (aggression)
                    4. I would like to get somewhere
                    5. Move out of the way
                    6. My instincts are telling me to dig, and ya know what….it’s kind of fun, I feel like I’m doing something important…dig dig dig…yahoo! Fun!

OH and 7. Pay attention to me.

I’m sure there are more reasons but those are the ones I can think of.

If I had to guess what she meant with you — I’d say #7.  She may be asking for you to continue giving her affection
