There were a bunch of new zealands used for a study at UC Davis and now that the study is over, they're going to be euthanized unless people want them. Is there anyone who can help these guys? The Yolo SPCA already shut down their bunny program.

I hope they find homes. Can you email a local rabbit rescue about them? I'm not sure where Davis is actually but there are many rabbit rescues in California.

Davis is near Sacramento. I can see if I can email the HRS in Sacramento about this. I actually know someone who got a rabbit from one of these studies. She saved his life. The school neutered him for her and now he's living happily. I doubt the others were as lucky. I'm pretty sure this happens often here because they always have these behavioral studies.

Oh no, I hope as many bunnies as possible find good homes . I have to say though, I'm impressed that the school is offering to neuter the bunnies before adoption. If they were just looking for convenience, it would be a lot easier to just do without the whole neutering thing.

Well, my school does have a vet school. Maybe it allows the students to have practice? I know that the animal hospital will teach students to neuter and spay. My housemate's rabbit was neutered there. The actual vet took out one testicle and the student vet took out the other.

I've emailed the Sac HRS. Hopefully they can take the bunnies in?

Thanks for contacting them HRS to get them some help. Are there any details about what the study involved, ie. behavior tests, use of drugs, etc.? It might help an owner to know.

I think the bunnies are safe now. I contacted one of the former bunny coordinators for the Yolo SPCA back when they had a bunny program. She has emailed the person and offered to take the bunnies that do not get adopted. She's a lifesaver!

I'm glad they're going to be okay. Thanks everyone for all the help and support! I really appreciate it. I will keep emailing her and see if she needs help. I might be able to foster one of them if I can convince my housemate to let me since the lady who will be taking them will be taking care of them out of her own pocket and she has many bunnies to take care of already. I'm just sad that the the SPCA and shelter won't take bunnies anymore. I used to love to volunteer with the SPCA with the bunnies. It's just too bad..
