This picture is probably not all that clear, but right under Blu’s cheek he has a bit of tangled/matted fur…  Oreo had something similar around her mouth area before too and I sort of untangled it for her.. Is this something I should let go on it’s own?  I have separated some pieces from the clump and he seems to appreciate it, or maybe he was just sleepy  haha.  but I’m not sure if I need to work it out or leave it?  He’s awfully furry for such a little guy so I guess that’s why?  He’s had something similar near his hind legs before too…I think that was the only other time I saw this.

        Any thoughts?

        Thanks..

work it out. if you have to, cut it. mats can cause sores on the skin under them. it won’t grow out on it’s own, the new hair growth will just make the mat worse.

Since he is short haired I have a feeling that a fine toothed comb will pull it right out- it might tug on his skin a little but it is usually healthier to gave the mat removed and Schroeder gets over it quickly when I do it to him. He hops away flicking his feet and he is over it. Schroeder gets medicine daily and sometimes he gets a drop or 2 in his fur which can cause those clumps.
