If I wake up one more morning to a completely emptied out little box, I am going to scream!

We have a hi-bac litter box in her pen with yesterdays news. She digs it all out every single night. To make it worse, she is peeing and pooping in her litter, but the litter is instead all over the floor when she goes.

Have you tried a litter screen from binky bunny’s store? They are so helpful and makes it easier to clean all the poop out.

I just looked at a Small screen, the shipping was $9 and some change! That’s outrageous considering it can’t cant weigh more than 1lb… and ideas on how to make one myself?

The shipping is quite fast and when you add stuff to it, it does not change a whole lot. It is shipping by FedEx, if I am not mistaken.

You can buy hardware cloth at the hardware store and cut it to size yourself, but the whole roll costs $12-15 and it’s a pain to cut it out and dremel the edges. I would recommend buying one (and this is from someone who bought one from the BB store and made a few more for my square shaped litter box)

I looked and there isn’t anything I would need to add :/

OneTwoThree, wait to order until you need more things. I just got 2 bales of hay and some treats and shipping was $10-$11. It is SUPA fast too! Hehe

And, Binkybunny ADDS a treat in each order.

The litter screen works really well for us! Someone reviewed it and said it was hard on their bunny’s feet, but it is made of pretty flexible stuff and is much better, imo, than hardware cloth would be. My bunny is a digger, too, and I use Oxbow’s wheat litter pellets in her box, so the screen keeps her from digging and eating too many of the pellets. It’s comfy enough for her that she even naps on it. Very easy to clean, too. Definitely wait until you need something more than the screen, though, if you can wait. (I understand the frustration, having such a busy, messy bunny.)

What kind of material is the screen made out of? Like, window screen material? I don’t see me ordering hay any time soon, I buy it from the local supply.

I also forgot to mention that she destroyed her water bottle too, so we had to get her a new one.

Do litter screens need to be washed off periodically? I don’t know much about them. I have a roll of screen around here somewhere for repairing lizard/snake cage tops.

Oh I think that would work really well! I would wash it off fairly often because she will be peeing on it.

The litter screen is tiny mesh wire, the entire edge is wrapped with a very durable rubber. I spray mine off with the hose every time I clean my buns litter pan, once or twice a week. No problrems. If you don’t need anything else, what about the cottontail cottage as a special treat? They are really neat, my bun loves his.
