I switched to a different type of bedding, Kaytee Soft Sorbent today.

My bunny is much more interested in nibbling/eating it rather than her Mazuri Rabbit Pellet food. She is eating her hay though. I was home during the day yesterday, but left last night and came back this morning, and she had eaten most of the food in her dish, so she is eating. She’s only been in the new type of bedding for maybe an hour, could she just be checking it out? She has pooped a lot today.

How do I get her to eat her food instead of her bedding? Or will she stop soon?

If she is more interested in eating the litter than the food, I would remove it. You don’t need bedding everywhere in the cage anyway, just in a litter box.

My rabbit BunBun eats CareFresh bedding but not Kaytee Soft Fiber Bedding (used to be called Total Comfort)…. but is the bedding you’re using kind of like little smooth soft pebbles? The Kaytee Soft Fiber Bedding is tan and looks like compressed, shredded cardboard/paper. I have only used CareFresh and Kaytee Soft Fiber Bedding, so I don;t know how others work. I’ve heard not to use the corn cob based bedding because bunnies can eat it and get blockages, but of course they can eat anything, as you can see! If she is actually eating the bedding and not just snuffling around in it, I would switch. There’s a few different ones out there- I’ve heard that wood stove pellets are very cheap and work well, but they aren’t soft. Good luck and welcome to the forum .
