Hi guys, just a quick question:

One of my friends has recently had a Dwarf bunny come into his home, and doesn’t really have any idea how to raise it. I’ve been giving him info about diet/care etc, but wasn’t sure if Dwarf rabbits have a diet that differs from regular ones in any way? I assume if not then you just account for the fact that it’d weigh less, but I just want to be sure.

        Thanks in advance.

          How old is the dwarf?

If its a baby (up to 6 months or so) bunny should get unlimited alfallfa pellets and unlimited hay.

After that, rabbit should be transitioned to timothy based pellets as alfalfa is very fatty. After timothy is transitioned, the pellet intake should be decreased to one table spoon daily. That is all a dwarf needs, and they can fill up on hay all day and veggies.

Veggies can be introduced within 12 weeks I believe. Try small portions of one type becausw bunnies can get a sore tummy when getting introduced to new foods!

Hay should be always free fed!

LoveChaCha covered it well. Being a dwarf really does not make a difference as far as what is fed. They may have a quicker metabolism since they are typically very high-energy.

The most important thing is going to be hay, then veggies, and after that… just a tiny bit of pellets. Hay should always be available. Two cups of veggies should be fed each day (regardless of size of bun).
