I picked up my baby lionhead rabbit today and they told me not to feed fruits and vegetables to dwarf rabbits because its bad for them and to only feed them dried fruits which come in his food. Is this true?

That is definitely not true!!  All rabbits, even dwarf breeds, need a hearty salad of vegetables every day.  Also, pellets with nuts, seeds, and dried fruits isn’t good for rabbits anyways.  On this site, under “bunny info” on the menu, there is a lot of good information about rabbit diet:

Nope. Your rabbit can have fresh fruits and vegetables just fine but not for a few months (till he’s three or four months old I believe but someone else might be able to be more specific/correct) and once you introduce them you need to introduce them slowly over time, starting with vegetables like romaine or herbs like parsely. Any fruit you give him once he’s old enough should be in very small doses (like half a slice of banana per day or something) and after introducing any new foods into his diet you want to make sure you monitor his poop closely to make sure they’re not upsetting his stomach.

Your rabbit’s dry food (pellets) should have no dried fruit, nuts, seeds or corn kernels in it to be healthy for your rabbit. It needs to be composed only of alfa alfa or timothy pellets, and look entirely like pellets all of the same color and size.

You should also give your rabbit unlimited hay of any type suitable for rabbits, like alfa alfa hay since he’s young.

Thanks! I didn’t think it was true but wanted to make sure. I bought a small bag of that food and am going to switch him to either Oxbow or PRCS.
