Rex is going through his first molt with us (he is 2 years old, recently adopted). He let us pull out chunks of his hair when it was coming out on his head, cheeks and back of his neck. Now, he cries or grunts any time I try to brush him or gently pull off hair on his back, where the molt has moved to.

What can I do to help him? I don’t want to leave the grooming up to him… we lost our first buns to GI Stasis, so I’m scared on him ingesting too much hair (though our first buns got stasis for an unknown reason– she wasn’t molting, but still, better safe than sorry!!). Any suggestions?!?

For a rex a dampened warm cloth works very well to gently strip off lose fur. She should like this as it is much like a real rabbit grooming.

I use a lint roller! It really does the trick, and it’s super fast so your bunny doesn’t have to deal with it for long : )

lol! I love the lint roller idea! That would likely work. What about the clumps though? Just leave them if they don’t come out with that?

I tried the warm cloth and he loved it, though it didn’t get much hair on it… maybe I had already pulled the loose stuff out.
