We have a winter garden we planted turnips and brocoli and mustard greens and cabbage. I wont feed Thistle the cabbage but what about the other stuff?  I know they can have brocoli  but what about the huge leaves? they are the size of my hand! Would that give him gas troubles? I havent given him any greens yet because I wanted him to be settled in well before changing up his diet again. I know to give it to them slow so it dosent hurt their tummy but how much should I start with? one leaf? half a leaf? less?

Now that the brocoli is growing its starting to flower and go to seed could I give Thistle the flowers from it?

We used to feed broccoli to ours almost everyday, but our vet said that it can cause gas in bunnies, so now it’s only an occasional treat. They seem to love both the florets and the leaves, so just give them a little : )

I feed mine lots of broccoli leaves last winter. I was worried at first but they don’t have the same pungent smell that the flower head has, so maybe that causes less gassiness? They also did fine with the flowers. Mine are used to brussel sprouts, broccoli and cabbage occasionally. If it’s new to a rabbit, I definately recommend starting out with small amounts.

I will give my buns the broccoli stem and the leaves, but not every day since it may cause gas. Turnips should be great, bot the tops and the bottoms. Mustard greens should also be good. I’ve also fed my buns cabbage but in limited quantities.

Mine have never had a gas issue from it, but a bunny with a sensitive tummy probably should steer clear. Sounds like yours is fine with it Mine snub their nose at which seems silly since they love Kale and I think they are related..
