Hi! This is my first post I love this forum. I get so much information

I got my rabbit recently and she’s been free range in my room for maybe a month now…

and for the first few weeks she was wonderfully happy and flopping and binkying. Yes, she peed on my bed all the time, but now she’s really depressed and won’t get out of that little hideaway I gave her. and whenever I go near her, she hops away. But when i kneel down, she hops along towards me. She used to follow me everywhere XD

The only time she gets out is when I sit on the floor…I’m thinking she’s just lonely. But what should I do, even when she is?! She also isn’t eating many of the vegis I give her, nor play with the toys I bought and made for her. D:

In advance, Thanks so much for the help! Here’s a pic, because I can . Yahh..she’s on a leash. Only temporary for awhile when I first free ranged her.

          What a cutie!
          How old is she?
Is she eating her other food ok? Pellets and hay etc?

It may be that she has just settled in her new home. It’s not unusual for rabbits to spend the day hidden away and sleeping. There are certain times that they become more active in.

A depressed rabbit can go off all it’s food and seem lethargic. That she’s not eating vegetable might just indicate that she doesn’t like them or is unfamiliar with them. It can take some time. Also, with toys, not all rabbits really go for toys.

It’s good when you sit on the floor and let them approach. It allows them to do it on their terms and they begin to trust more.

If you are really concerned & she is not eating any other of her foods and is acting lethargic, do get her to a vet and see she is not hiding any illness.

I’d say bring her in for a checkup. It’s better safe than sorry, especially with a bunny. A bunny who is not feeling well will often be less social.

yeah, i’d say drop by the vet’s.

that said, i generally find that banjo (also my first) doesn’t like to be petted or hounded by me when i’m standing. when i sit, she’s much more friendly. when i lie down on the ground, she’s actually a bit of a pest. trying to lick me on the nose and so on. but i don’t think bunnies like dealing with standing people. and it makes sense when you think about it. how’d you like to be taunted by someone who’s 12 stories tall? the only two things i’d be thinking are A. please don’t step on me and B. what the heck are you talking about up there?!

other possibilities are giving her more toys and things to play with. does she have something to chew on? bunnies’ teeth grow nonstop and they need something to chew on. i have a log for my banjo, and a rabbity straw basket. i also have some cardboard boxes with holes for her to jump through and explore. that’s something you can do on the cheap if you don’t have a lot of money.

that’s also a good point, about the settling in. banjo will lie around quite a lot like a great dane, too, all flopped on her side and so on. do you keep a pretty regular schedule, or do you go in and out at odd times? if the latter she may just not know to be awake and ready to play when you come home.

                she’s super-adorable, by the way.

                  Thanks for all the answers!
I think I was just being paranoid. She seems okay now, that I gave her a carpet so she has more traction on the floor. And you’re right about the standing thing. I probably look very scary from that angle to her. When I lie down, she just cuddles next to me and sleeps. Rabbits are absolutly adorable, aren’t they.

                    Hi everyone!

I got my bunny spayed on the 25/1/16 and she hasn’t been eating.
For the first couple of days I’ve managed to syringe feed her and now she’s refusing that
She lays in one spot in her cage and only comes out if we pick her up and bring her out. She looks very fed up and I was just wondering if anyone had any ideas?
She due to go to the vets tomorrow for a post op check up but I’m planning on calling them this morning as soon as they open.

                      Hi bitsybunny!
This is an old thread, and we ask members not to revive threads this old. Please start a new thread on the subject of your bun.
That said, I think you should call your vet as soon as they open, your bunny is obviously not recovering like she should. She might need a different antibiotic or more pain-killers.
I’ll be locking this thread now. To start a new thread you press the “Add Topic” button at the upper left in your sub-forum of choice.
