Lolli is shedding and she’s all spiky cause of all little tufts.  I tried 2 different combs on her the other day but neither one really worked well.  For those with rexes, have you found a way to groom them without using a comb?    Otherwise, I’ll just pluck her.  Which goes over GRREAAT   LOL

LOL yeah… plucking is not well received in our house.

I use a lint roller! They don’t love it, but it works fast and it works well.

Thanks! i’m sure that’ll go over great too, but she’ll just have to deal with it! LOL

haha, well the good thing is that it really gets the loose fur out, so you end up having to groom less often. Plus, if you always reward them with a raisin after, they won’t begrudge you too much. Whenever I have to lint roll ours, they still run back to me because they know they’re going to get a reward : )

I tend to reward her for everything! lol When I pick her up to snuggle her, she gets a treat after. And she definitely get rewards after I “poke” at her – clip her nails, check her ears, check for poopy butt, etc….

Well I think she’ll be all right then ^_^

I actually just lint rolled Momo this morning. She sits quietly for the few minute or two, and then she gets sassy and decides she’s had enough of that nonsense and starts digging on the floor and trying to toss my fingers and taking every opportunity she can to escape! Then she immediately runs back and gives me this look like “Wasn’t I good? Raisin!!”

There are grooming gloves, which you put your hand into and just pet her. You also can just get your own hands wet and wipe her by petting. A lot of hair will stick to you, which you can remove, then repeat. You could also try a soft bristle rabbit brush (I got a really soft one with a bunny-shaped handle at petsmart) that won’t bother her as much as a comb.

But if you give her a treat, like a carrot which takes time to chew, and get down gently near her with the good grooming comb (I recommend the hairbuster comb) and start at the top of the head so it feels like pets, she may sit still for a combing. It makes them feel much better when done, and you kind of simulate how another bunny would groom her so she might decide she likes it.

I’ve tried about a dozen different brushes/combs and the 3 methods I use are: Furminator (gently, you don’t want to make any bald spots), a plastic baby comb (this is good for Stormy’s tail area, he has longer, crinkly fur there that the Furminator can’t get) and the “wet hands” method to pick up all the loose hair. Top off with a Papaya treat and your done!

I have 6 rabbits,  2 are mini Rex’s. Compared to other rabbits THE REX’S DON’T STOP SHEDDING. I brush them when I can, and I get a lot of hair off from just petting them.  I make sure they get plenty of good hay and occasional pineapple to keep the hair moving.
