         I have a dutch bunny. You’ve seen their hair right? Not that long. However my Kya insists on shedding so much it’s like it never ends. My other bunny barely makes a quarter of the amount. I have groomed dogs for a living and yes, their fur can be a pain in the neck but usually in 20 minutes or so the amount on the brush starts to thin. Not with Kya, I will brush and brush and brush and the hair keeps coming! Now I realize there may be nothing I can do about this and of coarse I will continue my duty of brushing her but if any one has any advice at all, it would be great.

        To continue a bit more (because I’m that exasperated) I will sit with her and pet her and hair comes off in my hands. When we actually get to the brushing, my shirt and whatever I’m sitting on, get covered. I’m drowning… HELP!

          I know that feeling. Enough fur comes off Monkey that you’d swear theres enough in the pile for 5 or 6 bunnies, and she isn’t done yet lol. It will go down, just keep brushing a bit every day

            When bunnies molt twice a year the amount of hair can be really overwhelming. I know the feeling, but I don’t think there’s much you can do about it, unfortunately. Just keep brushing.

              My Mini-Rex sheds like this and I know how overwhelming it can be. I always brush him and have a little bowl of water handy. A great trick, which also keeps the mess down, is dampen your hands and then rub bunny all over with dampened hands. You’ll get tons of fur off on your hands, then just rubs your hands together and it will roll into clumps. I find this is a great method for short haired bunnies and it keeps you from getting so much mess on your clothes, in your eyes, mouth, etc. Make sure bunny doesn’t get too wet though because you don’t want him to get a chill.

                Dutchess does that too, and if you think about it they’re fur is actually pretty thick, even though it’s not necessarily long. I brush her out, but I also kind of pluck here and there gently too, and that seems to get a good amount. Just something you have to endure. My clothes get covered as well, so make sure you wear an everyday or older shirt that can be washed easily when grooming her. I’ve made that mistake -.-;

                  Oliver is shedding a CRAZY amount right now too!! We brush him a couple times a day…and gets tons of hair out each time. The wet hands idea sounds like a good one, I think I will try that.

                    I use the wet hands plus the comb from BB. It costs less than $10 and it works AMAZING. I also have a fine tooth slicker brush which is a little easier on her than the comb. I only use the BB comb when she has her BIG molt.

                      Thanks for the wet hands trick, I’ll have to try that. Yes, I have a very nice (not to mention pricey) brush. It was a Christmas gift that I am extremely thankful for and it works wonders. Its made by Furminator for small animals i.e ferrets and bunnies.

                        Just so you know the wet hands work.  I have a Lionlop.  I put him on top of the dishwasher with a towel under neath him (because it’s beside  the sink).  I put a paper towel over the drain so I can rinse the hair off my hands and it goes on the paper.  When I am done I roll up the paper towel and squeeze it and thats it.,

                        I also have a minilop that sheds enough for 10 buns.  She hates the brush.  If I sneek up on her to brush her she will take the brush and fling it out of my hand.
