so a few minutes ago i was feeding Dakota. Suddenly she started shaking her head and scratching her ears non stop. After about 5 ,minutes she finally stopped. Could this mean she has an ear infection or just some water or dirt in her ears. She is only doing it a little bit now. I have some ear cleaning stuff called Clean Ear From Super Pet. shouldi use it in her ears or shoukld i just wait and see if she stops shaking and scratching.

It is possible that something was only momentarily bothering her ear. You will know once you observe her more. If she does not go back to scratching and shaking perpetually, it was likely just that. Do not use a petstore ear cleaner without approval and instruction from your vet. Animal ears are very delicate and much harm get be caused by overcleaning, cleaning the wrong way, or using a product not formulated for rabbits.

Well the ear cleaning says it is for rabbits and ferrits but i can call my and ask if it is ok to use. She scratches and shakes like every 3 or 4 minutes now.

She needs to be examined by your vet. This ongoing ear shaking is a sign of something wrong in there. Even if it is just debris, it can be tricky to clean without pushing it further into her inner ear.

She may have something that can’t be remedied by at home stuff. My rabbit did the exact same thing and she had an ear infection and yeast. It can be dangerous if left untreated.

That often says it’s probably something wrong. In fact I was just reading an article by a vet today who was seeing a dog whose owner was continually treating with home remedies for mites and perplexed it wasn’t working…it was seeds from plants imbedded in the canal…so it really could be anything and ear problems can be tricky! It’s best to see a vet and not try something at home.

Oh another quote by a physician I read today (I’m reading on ear things as our dog is seeing a specialist this week for her ear thing)-‘you shouldn’t stick anything bigger then your elbow in your ear’ -aka don’t mess with the ear…see a doctor
