So I bought those pure timothy pellets the other day.  They’re JUST timothy hay in pelleted form, so they’re a great “supplement” to Zeus’s regular hay.  I gave him a handful, and he definitely likes them ok! .

After letting him get acclimated to them for a few days, now I just keep a dish of them full all the time, and he’s allowed to snack on them whenever.  So they’re fed pretty much like hay, and he really does seem to “graze” on them like hay.  He’ll eat a pellet or two, then a few hours later eat another pellet, then after his dinner eat a few more, etc.  It’s upping his hay/forage intake, so I’m really happy with them. .

Just thought I’d share!  They’re a great pellet, and smell DELICIOUS, even to me, the non-hay eating human!

Are they the Sterret Brothers ones? I tried those on my rabbits and they refused them. Glad Zeus is liking them.

Hey that’s just great! I really think this is going to be good for him. You should be proud he is eating them. I hear some spoiled rabbits will not touch them….

No, they’re Standlee Hay brand.  They’re actually marketed for horses.  Zeus is sharing them with my mare.

I think it’ll be good for him, too!  He’s not a big hay eater, he’s better now that I found a hay he likes, but still not a hay-hoover or anything.  I’m very glad he’s eating them, he’s picky so I wasn’t sure!  He doesn’t pig out on them like his “regular” pellets, but they’re also bigger pellets (about pencil-sized in diameter!), so just one or two pellets is a good amount.
