I saw him eating his pellets, as in the hard, round poops, yesterday. I hadn’t noticed before, but he also eats them when he sits in his litterbox. I thought he was eating his hay. I read somewhere that is was because of a fiber deficiency, but I don’t know how to correct it ether. He has plenty of hay and unlimited access, so I’m not sure why he doesn’t eat enough of it. Last night I sat with him and put it in his face and he ate it. And since he’s just like his momma, he can only eat it one way, from tip to tip. And if it doesn’t happen fast enough, he gets frustrated and quits. I have tried putting his hay on TOP of his pellets (food pellets) as well and he pushes it aside to get to his food instead. te only time I see his eat hay is whne I put it at the entrance of his mouth.

Are you saying he’s not eating hay? (You may want to try another brand).

I know there was another post about Poop Eaters, as i have a bunny who chews up and eats his regular poops. His diet isn’t any different then my 6 other bunnies. Some bunnies just seem to do it, I think someone once mentioned feeding a bit of banana had helped one bunny (?) so if this is true it could be a vitamin thing, maybe that bunny needed some more potasium?
What kind of pellets and veggies are you feeding?

Kaytee Timothy pelletes (and hay), collard greens, romaine lattuce, green letuce and cilantro is what he normally gets. He loves bananas but hasn’t had some in a while. And yes, I don’t think he’s eating his hay…

I would say cut out everything that is not hay. Force him to eat it. If he can wait for the tasty greens, he may not eat hay. So.. dont give him tasty greens.

He needs hay, thats the most important thing. He needs to learn to eat it when he is hungry.
