do your rabbits know what the drink bottles are for? i recently got one and attached it to my hutch, but i don’t think the bunnies understand what it’s for and i’m worried they aren’t getting enough water. previously they were drinking from a bowl, but every morning there is always a lot of hay and other muck in the bowl, so i want them to learn how to use the nozzle on the bottle to drink. i put a bowl underneath the bottle because it drips a little bit and i noticed one of my rabbits sniffing around the bowl as if he was thirsty 🙁 how can i show them what the bottle is for?

Try smearing some banana, raisin, or fruit juice on the nozzle. Hopefully, the bunnies will smell the fruit, and when they go to lick it off, they’ll realize that water comes out too. If you notice a little water gone, keep smearing fruit goop on the tip for a week or two, or until they start drinking a normal amount of water from the bottle.

That works. It helps to show them how it works. You can pump it with your finger and touch the water to their mouths, so they know it’s a water source. but the smeared banana is a charm.
