Can coccidia be detected through blood tests?? I had bloodwork done on Bing, but I’m concerned because he is not eating the kind of poop he’s supposed to eat. I can’t blame him though, it smells terrible…

is it possible that he’s just overproducing cecals thats why you see it a lot?does it look like shiny clumps of grapes or just simply mushy poops?my bunny had coccidia and all the vet needed is a fecal test to confirm it.

It looks like both, but more often its the grapes. Today though there were large ones stick together. Instead of several small clumps, there were three big ones.

No, coccidia is detected through a fecal test. The grape ones sound like cecals to me. Sometimes they might look slightly different. If you are concerned then you could do a test – how long have you had him?

If it’s continued, I would wrap some samples in plastic or put into a container and take them to your vet to test. You can bring different kinds, so she can see what you’re describing and how they are different from his regular poo. Might as well catch them for the vet now rather than have to wait for him to produce more.

I’ve had him for almost 6 months. Who do you take your buns to, Sarita? We are in the same area. I normally take him to the vet while I’m back home and not at school over christmas break and summer break and I haven’t found anyone near me that I trust yet. Reccomendations?

Ummm…He just ate his poop. As in normal pellets… I don’t think that’s right. Right?
