My kitten had a few fleas on him and I just noticed that Baxter had one. That is all I found on him after I went through his fur but when there’s one theres more. Anyway, I treated my kitten today with some stuff my SIL said worked well. I got it from Walmart. Can I use it on Baxter? The Vet said that they would just treat him with the same stuff they use on cats in their office. I am affraid to treat Baxter with the same stuff.  I have spent a lot of money on my animals and was trying to save a little BUT if I absolutely can’t use it than I won’t.

What’s the name of the stuff that you used on your kitten? There are two common flea treatments used on cats, and i believe one is appropriate for rabbits but must be dosed carefully, while one is toxic for rabbits…I believe Frontline is the TOXIC one and Advantage is the safe one.

I used Advantage on Sammy when I first got him just for a month, and since he was so little I had to use half of the kitten dose. You should consult with your vet about dosage probably.

Also, the advantage would need to be put (in the proper dosage) on the back of the rabbit’s neck, essentially between it’s shoulder blades, so that the rabbit would have as hard a time as possible to reach it and try to lick it off.

Advantage for kittens is the one to use. Check with your vet for dosage, but it should be able to take care of both pets.

Some medications for cats are NOT recommended-so it will definitely matter what medication you used on your kitten. Advantage is safe

find out what the ingredient is in the product you used on Meeko. Some flea teatments should not be mixed, even in the environment. Phone your vet to find out for you if you can apply the kitten advantage on Baxter now or if you need to wait for Meeko’s treatment to wear off. Another option is Revolution for Baxter but it costs a little more. You might also like to use some diatomaceous earth in their litterboxes in the meantime. It kills fleas by way of dehydration and is safe to use around rabbits.

Thank you all for your suggestions. Sorry I posted this thread and then disappeared for a few days without responding. I think I am going to be on the safe side and go with Revolution at the vets office. That’s what they recommend.

I used Revolution on all my cats and rabbits. Make sure to tell your vet Baxter’s weight because she may recommend a certain dosage. My vet pre-measured all the bun’s dosages based on their weight. One tube did all 3 bunnies.
