So I noticed Luke Skybinker has a tiny patch with no fur on near the joint area where his thigh connects to, like his heel. Just 1. The other foot is fine. All these posts lately about the sores made me suspicious to look. And low and behold….

We’ve had him on tile because he isn’t potty trained yet, poop is all over. I just gave him a towel yesterday to sleep on, it’s folded up in a small square. He still pee’s sometimes too in other areas.

What else should I do to make his cage comfier since he still isn’t potty trained well? I do have a spare grass mat I could bring over and give him.

I just trimmed his nails too and showed Mike how to do it. It doesn’t look red or pink, just skin colored.

What can we do to make sure he will be okay and not upset the angry foot anymore?

He probably had this before we got him because he was on a wire cage bottom

sore hocks is a condition where the skin is open, sore and inflamed on a rabbit’s foot. Bald spots are not the same as sore hocks.

But couldn’t this area without fur turn into a hock sore?

yes, if it gets opened from pressure and then infected in dirty environment… but tiles and short nails plus comfy things to sit on should prevent that. The fur might come back too. Lint’s hocks periodically go bald and then the hairs regrow. You just keep an eye on them.

Okay cool thanks. I’m gonna send Mike off to the petstore to pick up a catbed and then I’ll hit up the fabric store for some fleece. I guess we will just wash them a lot until he gets better with the litterbox. Too bad I am the one with the washing machine -.-

Another excuse to go to the craft store…Ohhhh darn!

Make sure to keep his area dry. Moisture can promote sore hocks.

And if I remember correctly, he’s a rex right? Bald spots/sores are esp. common with rexes due to their shorter fur.

What’s going on with his potty-training? Is he neutered already? What kind of things are your BF trying?

No he isn’t neutered yet, he will be …no testicles yet. Yes he is a rex.

97% of the urine makes it into the box and about 75% of the poops. We’re working on it, he’s getting better. I moved the box do a different spot than what my boyfriend had since I noticed him favoring another area to poo.

Honestly… 75% poops is not bad for an unneutered male. Many neutered buns never get better than 90%. That’s pretty good.

Thats probably as close to trained as you’ll get without being neutered As logn as the pee is in most of hte time, I wouldn’t worry

He’s doing better than Bindi with the poos then and Bindi’s been neutered for years! Bindi’s motto is “I usually use the litter box but sometimes I just poo where I feel like”
