I was just looking up greens that I shouldn’t feed my bunny, and lots of websites out there say the most stupid crap like “don’t feed your bunny vegetables” and “no lettuce related plants at all” ”no clover” and “alfalfa is bad for rabbits”  and one said tomatoes and had a picture of the leaves! Also these sites had lots of traffic and no “bad responses” just people asking questions like “I just fed my rabbit some romaine will he be ok?” god sometimes I want to hit people.

Yes. There is so much conflicting info out there.

What tends to happen is people buy sickly rabbits from petstores or breeders that have coccidia (a somewhat common but TREATABLE parasite that can cause “diarrhea” and lead to early death).

They feed baby bun lettuce. Baby bun gets diarrhea. Baby bun dies.

They never think to take their sick rabbit to the vet, so they just assume (and publish on the internet) that their bunny died from DIARRHEA caused from LETTUCE. They never know their rabbit had coccidia.

I can almost guarantee that the vast majority of these people who post “my rabbit died from lettuce” have no idea what they are talking about. Vegetation is the natural diet of rabbits… NOT pellets or carrots or seeds. A rabbit in the wild may never have a carrot once… but they will live on grasses and plants.

You have to remember that ANYONE can post ANYTHING on the web so don’t believe everything you read, especially with regards to nutrition and health. When in doubt check with the House Rabbit Society for feeding guidelines. http://www.rabbit.org

Also, even some vets are out of date in regards to the best diets and care for rabbits. If they have only ever worked with rabbits who are for breeding/farm purposes, their views may differ greatly. They may not be familiar with buns as house rabbits. If you ever go to a vet and feel like you know more than they do, you might want to keep looking for a savvy vet.
