I have never been so scared in my life! I have bunny proofed my entire bedroom so that Basil can run around and get exersise when ever he wants and its been great he has been really happy! my cat isnt thrilled about him he is scared to death of the long eared cat eating monster the bops around on the floor! lol Sky watches from a distance but  runs as soon as Basil gets within 10 feet of him even though he is on the other side of the baby gate! lol Im kinda glad he is like that because I was worried he would scare Basil but its the other way around lol anyway I have never had a problem with Basil getting up on my bed till now… Its my fault I set him up there for a second today to grab somthing before I put him down on the floor to play,  he thought it was the coolest thing and was doing binkies all over before I put him on the floor, well now he manges to jump 4  to 5 feet up on the bed when Im not in the room! I went in there and set him back down on the floor and I saw a bunch of fuzzy hair on the bed in a few small piles and dint think much of it I went down to pet Basil and he hopped off but was holding his left hind leg up and not using it! Ive never felt so scared ever! I scooped him up and  kinda tranced him (he dosent really trance ) and checked his leg out he has a bald patch on the outside of that leg I slowly felt the leg over for heat swelling or lumps then I checked the joints everything was normal.I couldnt get ahold of Basils vet (remodeling the clinic for the next 2 months!!!!!) of course they are the only vet in my rual town that treats rabbits!

I gently rotated his leg to make sure he hadnt disloacated his hip he was fine I put him down to see him move and he used his leg like normal just once I saw him favor it again but I have been watching him for the past hour and he hasnt done it again I looked all over the bed to be sure he didnt get stuck or somthing I cant for the life of me figure out what happened I KNOW it wasnt the cat he refuses to go in the room with Basil do you think Basil got stuck between the bed and the wall? Im trying to think of all theses ways he could have done it but Im clueless!

I feel awful for him even though he seems fine he is eating drinking pooping so Im sure hes ok but I just feel bad Is there anyway to “train” him to keep off the bed? like a spray bottle with water maybe? Right now I have boxes blocking it off but hate having so many boxes eveywhere! oye! lol Im hoping he will eventualy forget about it after having the boxes up there for a while any other ideas?

Does you cat usually like to sleep on your bed though? He might have got over his fear of Basil if he spotted him on the bed that he views as his.

Otherwise, I don’t know….unless he scraped it somewhere else in the room then “licked his wounds”, groomed and pulled out the fur once up on the bed. Could you cat have even striked thru the baby gate?

I found out what he did and it was my fault usually I cover the top of his cage with a couple of towels or blankets just in case he jumped up on it and I forgot to do it that day and he had jumped up there and his leg went thought the grid holes felt awfu
l he jumped back on the bed and licked his “boo boo” and that is where the fuzz on the bed came from, all it did was pull the hair out thank goodness! it could have been alot worse! I now have enough grids to block off that whole section now so that will never happen again. oye! bunnies sure know how to make their mommies have a stroke!

Hey – we all make mistakes!

My buns once ate a ham sandwich  but they were OK. We all do silly things! Don’t beat yourself up. You’re right – it could have been a lot worse
