Does anyone have a rabbit that has an allergy? i know rabbits can get allergies, it is uncommon, but is very very possible.

If so, how did you deal with it?

I found an article about it..

        http://www.helium.com/items/1873306…in-rabbits

I dont agree with the treatment, but I like how it says the potential reasonings behind allergies.

I don’t agree either with the steroids – a vet would only use a steroid in a very severe case – my vets would not use steroids at all for anything – rabbits are super sensitive to these.

The article mentions wheat and when Amy (Hugo’s mom) was searching for a gluten free pellet we found that American Pet Diner’s pellets are wheat free so you might consider them – you have to order them on-line though.

That article you linked Brittany, is the first I’ve seen about rabbits having allergies. Most the time it’s said “rabbits don’t really get allergies” and with searches you have to sift through all the stuff regarding allegies TO rabbits.

But it makes sense they can suffer allergies. It’s on the rise in humans and animals and alot is contributed to food and food additives. Also, isn’t the reason rabbits are tested on so much (food, cosmetics etc) because of their sensitivity? And we know their sensitivity to certain litters also.

Anyway, I’m just rambling as it got me thinking.

I thought you’d want to check out this thread too regarding pellets since you’ve been looking into it. https://www.binkybunny.com/FORUM/tabid/54/a…fault.aspx
