How do you “Pill” a Bunny?

I was once given pills for a foster rabbit I took on after a neglect situation, I picked him up from a non rabbit savvy Vet (aka Butch i swear… anyways) they gave me Baytril pills…. I was so confused, i couldn’t think of a way to trick a bunny into taking these pills, without some sort of pill popper. I ended up giving him Liquid baytril I had and bringing him to my own Vet for treatment.

I read someone say they put them into rasins. So I would like to know who has had to give pills to a bunny, and how did they do it?
I think this would be good information for all bunny parents to know just in case they end up with medication in the form of pills.

I’ve tried the raisin/craisin trick and that only works so much.

My best advice is to ask the vet to compound the medication – that’s what they do with the baytril.

Another thing I used to do was crush it up and stick it in a syringe and add water and let the pill dissolve and add a tiny bit of sweetner to it like juice.

I haven’t had a vet give me a pill in ages though.

I was going to say crush it up and mix with something – my first thought would be critical care, but I like Sarita’s idea of water and juice or sweetener too.

I crush them between two spoons, and add them to something sweet/yummy. With a homeo remedy that is a small pill i do the same but add a bit of warm water to disolve it a bit and then syringe it.
But I perfer the liquid for sure.
