Hi, is it normal for a bunny to not respond to any food at all while it’s sleeping or being sleepy? My rabbit used to dash over when I rustle the pellets bag, but now when he seems tired, he doesn’t respond to any food I offer him. He’s somewaht active in the morning and at night, but not as much as he used to be, as he used to be somewhat active in the day as well. I have taken him to the vet previously because he wasn’t eating and they prescribed critical care, metacam and gut stimulant. He ate this morning, as well as last night, and I suspect he’ll probably eat at night too…but is it healthy for a bunny not to eat during the day? Thanks for any responses :]

It’s good you are monitoring this and seeing that changes.
Rabbits are most active first thing in the mornings and then later in the evening. I feed mine in the evenings because that is usually the times they eat.

Is your bunny pooping? Do they look normal? not misformed, to big, to small etc.
If you offer a favorite treat will your bunny take it even if he is ‘sleepy’?
Some rabbits are not so food motivated, while others are, so it can be harder to get if they are refusing food quickly. If your bunny was food motivated and is no longer, and is showing any other odd signs I would definetly book an appointment to see the Vet.

In cases when i am not sure, i get my bunny to run around and play. then I offer treats. if the bunny is reluctant to move, and still doesn’t take a treat, we’re off to the Vet.
