I think I finally found a hay that Zeus really actually LIKES and will do more than just pick at.

My barn got a few new bales in, and since it was greener than the other stuff, I decided to bring that home to Zeus to try.  It’s also quite a bit coarser, nowhere near as soft, as the old stuff.  It’s a bit more timothy and less orchard grass, too.

I brought it home to him, and he’s eating it very well!  He’s actually making it a point to go over and eat some, rather than just picking at it when he’s in his box to poo/pee.  Woohoo!

I really think the texture is the thing he likes.  Like I said, it’s more coarse, less soft, than the old hay.  I guess he likes “crunchier” hay?

Yay! It’s always great when you find something they’ll eat!

How odd! I thought picky eaters normally preferred softer. But that’s great that you found something he likes!

Yeah I thought it was weird too!  But whatever, as long as he’s happy.
