So I am force feeding him a goop mixture of pellets, fruit, and pedialyte with a touch of honey.  Basically the biscuit recipe without the oats and with pedialyte.  He is drinking water though.  I have been constantly feeling his tummy and I feel it gurgling a bit but he hasn’t pooped as far as I can tell.  And this is weird – he won’t get up to pee.  He just stays right where he’s laying and goes cause I’ve picked him up a couple of times with his butt being wet.  Smells like urine around here now.  I did notice his pee hole is red and he seems to have faint reddish stains on the bottom of his back feet like he bled.  But I don’t see any blood anywhere so maybe it’s in his pee.  ?????  When he hops off cause I’m messing with him, he seems perfectly fine.  He even perked up when I talked to him.  When I have put treats in front of him, he has perked up and sniffed with interest but then will refuse them.  So he’s not totally despondent.  And yes, I have  tried all kinds of treats – strawberries, peaches, mango, pineapple, banana, raisins, oats, wasa crackers.  Lolli’s been a treat bandit today.  LOL

He has had gas before but that was last year.  Oh – I’ve given him a couple of doses of baby gas x just to be on the safe side.  He didn’t show any signs of anything being wrong until yesterday.

We do have an emergency vet clinic here in Peoria, but unless the vet on duty is familar with other pets, they won’t even see other animals unless it’s a dog or cat.     So I will be trying my vet tomorrow just in case they are open which I doubt and will definitely be taking him on Tuesday.

Please keep my little boy in your thoughts.  I am so beyond freaking out.  It has to happen on a weekend AND a holiday weekend at that.  Sigh. And to top it off, Lolli’s been driving me batty with being into everything and chewing on everything.

How often should I force feed Eddie?

I’m sorry that Eddie isn’t feeling well- my BunBun just recovered from GI stasis so I know how scary it is. It’s like you can think of nothing else, but but at the same time you hafta deal with all of life’s everyday hassles, when all you wanna do is somehow fix your bunny . I’m definitely no rabbit expert- just learning on here- but I would try to get 1-2 cc’s of food into Eddie about every 3 hours (if you’re using a dosing syringe, fill it to the 1 or 2). That’s what the vet told me to do with BunBun when he wouldn’t eat. I had Critical Care, which may be more nutritionally dense, so maybe feed Eddie 2-3 cc’s if he will let you? I think it’s just important that he is getting something in his stomache so he doesn’t go into GI stasis. It’s great that he’s drinking water, otherwise you would have to syringe feed him that too. The peeing on himself thing is concerning- but it being red doesn’t mean much, since rabbit’s pee varies from clearish to red anyway- my buns get red pee when they eat kale. I remember that BunBun just peed right on his chair when he was sick- which is very unlike him. Then he dribbled some urine later on- I’m not sure if he was trying to poop or was just too ill to get to the litter box.

It sounds like you’re taking great care of him- as far as I know, all you can really do is administer simethicone, feed him, massage his belly and keep him warm. BunBun got really cold when he was sick- he had to sit on a heating pad covered with a towel when he was home. At the vet’s they have special heating disks- I wish I could get one!

I know just what you mean about stuff like this always happening on a long weekend, middle of the night, whenever there is no vet available basically. This forum was a lifesaver for me- I used the search feature to find info on what BunBun was going through while I was waiting for replies. I hope Eddie gets better soon- hang in there! (((healing vibes))))

Doesn’t it always happens on weekends and holidays? So frustrating! Blood is not normally visible in urine. If they do pass fresh blood it would be very red and unmistakable or older blood would be dark, almost blackish in colour and possible pass after the urine. Normal urine does turn a redder colour once exposed to the air for a while so it could very well be pee if he’s peed on the floor. It’s sounding a little like a urinary tract or bladder infection. They can loose their appetite with these. It may be he’ll be in the mood for food later but keep tempting him. Also, you can completely empty the litterbox so you’ll no for sure if he does go.

I’m thinking it might be a UTI too. But I really have no clue. With his bouts of gas, he didn’t even pee. I am giving him about 3-4 cc’s of the goop food. I haven’t seen him poop yet. His tummy is gurgling more but he’s still grinding his teeth in pain when I rub him. I haven’t narrowed the teeth grinding to one specific area. I rubbed him all over and he started grinding his teeth when I rubbed his ribs, his leg, his tummy. I don’t know where the bladder is, but that’s fine. He’ll be going to the vet no matter what.

Lolli has poopy butt now from all the treats, so I had to clean her up. And her skin is red and raw looking around her genitals, so I put some neosporin on her. I told her this is why she doesn’t get treats any more. lol

Eddie is feeling well enough to boss Lolli around like normal. He keeps bossing her out from under the box. lol He went over to the lettuce a bit ago and sniffed around and acted like he wanted to eat. But he just ended up laying down. He did the same thing to a carrot – like he acts interested, almost starts eating and then just lays down.

I think Lolli was having a regular ole hay day, running around here without Eddie to boss her around today. LOL She certainly didn’t seem to be phased by him being sick. Which is odd cause when he had his bouts of gas last year, she stayed by his side and groomed him.

Ok….it is a pain in the arse to try and deal with two rabbits who have separate issues going on by yourself. lol i changed their litter tonite. I think that was also stinking up the place. lol Eddie smells like pee. Lolli smelled like poopy butt. We’re a regular stink factory around here today. LOL

Ah bunnies – never a dull moment!

I’m sorry Eddie isn’t feeling well!

I just wanted to chime in and say for the force feeding, I would stick to critical care or mashed up pellets – too much sugar in the form or fruit and honey isn’t going to help his tummy right now. He needs bland food with lots of water mixed in to keep him hydrated and keep his tummy moving. How much are you giving at a time?

The red staining is probably his pee, like Jersey said.

I made him some just pellet goop. lol Day 3 of not eating or pooping and he’s kind of making me mad. I just snuggled with him and he gave me kisses and hopped off llke he was fine. And I just force fed him and he really fought me.

It also occurred to me last night that Lolli’s molting and he’s been grooming her a lot so maybe he has a blockage from that. But it doesn’t explain why he won’t get up and pee in the litter box unless he just felt too bad to move. I don’t know anymore. I really don’t. The vet is closed today like I thought so I’ll have to wait until tomorrow.

Could be his teeth too. Vibes to Eddie. Let us know what the vet says.
