The bunny rescue I volunteer for is going to be doing an adoption event at a vegan/eco-friendly/no animal product clothing boutique in New Haven, Connecticut next month. It would be far out of my way to pick up a shelter bunny on my way down there, so they said I can just bring Otto and Hannah  I’m excited! They’re also doing a wine tasting (probably) and I have enough wine knowledge that I hope I can help with that part of it too. The place looks really hip (online at least) and the clothing looks high end – not crunchy granola or anything

I hope people actually stop in to talk with us about bunnies!

What wrong with crunchy granola?! LOL!

          That sounds like fun!

Haha, I like crunchy granola too! It just doesn’t fit in with the CT vibe very well (what with the yachts and beach houses and all *rolly eyes*). And I didn’t expect an eco-friendly boutique to be so chic. I’ll have to try and not look like a bum while I’m there. Haha Though apparently it’s right by Yale, so I imagine the college students stopping by will look like bums too

That sounds like a fun event. I used to do a vegetarian event that was in the parking lot of a Krishna Restaurant/Temple and it was so much fun. You get a totally different group of people than you would at a pet store.

So, you are not only a beer expert but also a wine and crunchy granola expert :~) you’ll fit right in with that crowd then!

No way on crunchy granola expert. I’m not very crunchy 😛 I am obsessed with wine though! I learned enough from my wines class in college to repeat it back and sound smart 😉

I guess a girl who used to volunteer at the rescue during her time off from college started the store with her dad recently. I’m thinking they want publicity, they love animals, so what better way than to have cute bunnies (and alcohol) draw in some crowds 😀 Good for the bunnies and their store.

They have wine classes in college? What was your major LOL?

Haha. My major was chemical engineering, but we had a hotel management school and they had a wine professor who taught a class – I’m pretty sure it was the most popular class in school. It was once a week (just one or two credits) and we tasted 6-8 wines each class. I’ve learned some more since then, but that professor taught me 90% of what I know about wine.

If only I remembered as much about my thermodynamics and physical chemistry classes!

LOL…I need to know that as well! My parents had an exchange student from Oregon living when I had moved out. I remember she had fishing classes at her college. Very strange.

That is in fact an excellent combination I love those people. Wine and bunnies, what more can you ask for?

We also had tons of strange “gym classes”. My husband took scuba diving (I guess they went into the lake? we were nowhere near an ocean). They had bowling, hand gun safety, riflery (is that a word?), and all sorts of interesting things. I don’t think we had fishing, but that would’ve been fun!

It’ll be fun to talk to people about bunnies. I always entertain the dog owners at the vet with stories about how the bunnies are free range during the day and use their litter boxes. None of the bunnies can be adopted out at the event, it’s just for education, so that’s why I can bring my own buns. I hope it gets people interested in visiting the rescue and adopting.

I’m sure you’ll charm plenty of people and teach them about bunnies. I can’t wait to hear all about it.

And I can see how the wine class prepared you for chemical engineering – makes sense to me.

I just checked the fall schedule at my community college and there is not a wine class offered – bummer!

Aww, that’s too bad. Do you have any restaurants that do tastings with education? We have a few places here that will do a wine and dinner night with a specific type of wine and they’ll tell you about the wines and how to pair them with food.

I’m sure we do, but it would be tons more fun to take it at school LOL.

I know my community college offers wine classes. Maybe yours will soon.

I have a wine class at my school too, they actually make their own and get to taste it at the end of the year!

That’s cool! My school has a wine program (though it wasn’t really started until after I left) and they work on creating hybrids that work well in NY. I wish we had been able to taste some of the stuff they were working on.

Sounds like a great event Elrohwen! Be sure to take lots of pictures of the buns while you’re there!
