So while I was chopping tomatoes for myself, my Dad suddenly shouted out, “AH! There’s a [wild] bunny outside!!!”

Seconds later, in response, my Mom shouted, “Oh God, there’s a fox too!” My heart sunk.

There was a fox creeping up to the wild bunny, who must have been at least 10 pounds. The bunny was less than 10 feet from the fox.

So as the fox creeped towards the unaware rabbit, I ran out in my bunny slippers and with hands covered in tomato juice. Not knowing what else to do, I screamed at the top of my lungs, which scared both the fox and the bunny. As the fox ran into the bushes, the impressively large rabbit ran gracefully across the yard and into the farthest parts of my yard, where I assume there’s a rabbit hole, since he suddenly vanished from sight.

Just felt the need to share with you BBers.

Wow, what a wildlife you have in your yard!

I rather not see such things either. I pretend that predators eat veggies and nothing else, and it breaks my heart when I have to watch nature take its cause – it would be just as upsetting to watch the fox starve to death though.

Nature can be very sad…especially when it involves an animal as cute as a rabbit! I would have done the same thing!

              omg!! So scary
My friend last year saved a wild baby bunny. It was in a dogs mouth. She took it in. Thought the mom had died. So she did her research and fed it the formula and all the right stuff. Everyone told her to let the bunny go. She build it a nice big cage like the one I have for Pixie. Got it toys and pretty much spoiled the thing. Everyone told her to let it go once it could fend for itself. She is a huge animal lover and in her heart she knew she probably should but didnt. She still has him/her today and it is one spoiled bunny. How long will it live for I wonder? Do most of you agree she should have let it go? I probably would have done the same thing and kept it considering I am a huge animal lover. Also the town we live in has coyotes everywhere. I hear them every night killing animals and it is very disturbing to me…..

I think I would have done the same being a bunny lover. However, I also try to tell myself that it is Nature! I wouldn’t want the fox or possibly her kits to starve either. It is different then somebody having a gun and shooting it for sport!  I like that you went out there in bunny slippers!!
