I was visiting my dad in the hospital today and I always go look at the babies on the Maternity ward since I am a baby freak  .

I was looking at their little name plates some really cute babies with names that just looked like it fit them. Then a nurse brought in a new baby boy wrapped in this little blue blanket with his white hand covers and socks and a little hat with a blue doggy on it.

She is shaking her head when she prints out the little name paper. THEN I see why! These people named their new little baby boy Bad Romance [Last Name]

I actually thought either A) I had lost my ability to read or B) She printed it out wrong or as a joke. So when she came out I asked her if that was the little boy’s actual name. And she said yes that they already had the name picked out before he was born.

Again you have your new baby in your arms he is wiggly and just a cute little bundle (and he was a gorgeous baby) and you think to yourself “Oh wow I have a baby he is just the cutest Bad Romance”

        SERIOUSLY WTH!

It just seems so wrong lmao poor kid! And I thought my full name was bad!

Wow! Geesh…child abuse! That’s just plain nuts. What in the world….lady gaga fans or is this adorable baby a result of a bad romance… poor kid. Maybe his good looks will get him through the rough times.

The first day of high school,  the teacher calls roll —-   Jessica….Steven…..Bad Romance….(everyone gets whiplash to look).  All I can say, is he’d better be hot….or really really big and strong.  Otherwise life is going to be somethin!

Bad Romance…hahaha, sorry, that is just weird. Who wants to marry Mr. Bad Romance? And he will probably only be called Bad, and well I’m sure his fellow class mates at school can find something funny to attach to bad.

In my country, you can only choose names from a specific list. If you want another name, you have to write an application and then the board will look into it and perhaps add the name to the list of approved names, so others can pick it as well. Names that are words (eg. coffee), sound like something or just strangely spelled (Christophphpher) are not allowed. Or if the board thinks it is odd – I remember a family who fought for two years to name their son Globus, but had to give up.

If you are a foreigner, you often have to go through this, as such names are of course not on the list. It might sound bureaukratic, but at least no one is named Bad Romance Although I do like the fact that no name is off limit. I gotta admit it is a unique name

That’s ridiculous! What are they thinking…they must be young too. It’s not even a name!

I went thru and edited out the last name. I think we can more than get the point with only the “first name”.

That is unbelievable. Since I’m guessing they’re young, I really hope their parents or someone convinces them to change the name. If push came to shove, teh baby could be called “Rome” or “Roman” which wouldn’t be too bad… but wow. What a crazy name! I’m thinking of those scantron bubble sheet that you have to fill your name in… That kid will get his butt kicked in school.

Yeah didn’t think about the last name thing until I woke up this morning.

I don’t know who the parents were or how young or old they were but I am guessing young as well to name their kid something like that. It’s just so bad lol. I know if it were me the second I turned 18 my name would be changed to something different wouldn’t want to be going around called “Bad”.

the sad thing is that by the time you’re 18 it’s almost too late… you’ve already had your butt whooped daily. lol. so i predict that the kid will either be the class clown or the tormented artist type.

a friend of mine was given the name ‘smiley’ as his first name. he went by his middle name until he was in his 20’s – i didn’t even know it wasn’t his actual first name – and then started going by smiley. apparently because he got lots of attention from proving it was actually his first name. sort of like a conversation starter when out trying to meet the ladies. lol. but then at least smiley is a word used to describe happiness and not an episode of your life you’d rather erase.

Well, you know the song “bad” by Michael Jackson – Bad Romance is gonna love that one : “You know I’m bad, I’m bad”. It really for once actually applies so well to a person

I’m sorry, I just still think it is really, really funny that they gave him that weird name I still giggle by the thought of it. But I am sure that they will give him another name as they will get tired of calling such a long name. I hope…

It’s not official by now, right? I mean, giving the name to the hospital doesn’t mean a thing, they have to wait for the baptism, right?

Good Grief! why not just name him Imma Mistake and get it over with. poor kid. Maybe the parents will come to their senses.

I have a friend whose married name is Rose Bush, and she named their daughters Fern and Holly. Their reasoning was that the daughters would eventually marry and change theirs, but still….lol

My dad used to work for Social Security and he spoke to A LOT of people in the time that he was there. He actually spoke to a woman whose child’s name was Merry Christmas. And another lady had a son whose name was Godzilla.

                              WTH!!!!!!!

Also, I read online that this couple in Japan tried naming their child “Akuma.” Which means “Devil.” However, it was denied.

What’s wrong with people? Their child will have to live up to that name.. and be laughed at .

Hmm, by baptism I meant any kind of official thing really, which in my country isn’t before 3 months after the birth. So, the birth certificate in the US is made AT the birth and that has the official name then? Bad Romance IS now his official name, or do they still have a couple of months to decide?

I believe in most areas it’s required to have all the birth certificate paperwork filled out by the time you leave the hospital with your baby (which is on average 48 hours after birth).  I think you still have some leeway after that for a short period, maybe a month or two, but once it’s official, you need to jump thru a lot of hoops to change a name.

I don’t get why they’d want to mess with their kid like that.

If you love the idea of “Bad Romance” as a name, for goodness sake, name your dog, cat, rabbit, or goldfish that… NOT your human child!

My mom’s name is very unique, so for privacy’s sake I won’t post it. It was a combination of her mom’s and dad’s names. Her middle name is Frances. She hates both of them and wishes she could’ve been called something more popular for her time like Victoria. She told me my adoptive parents changed my birth name and I’d wished they hadn’t because it was nicer than the one I have now.
We both agreed that people should be allowed to go by a number until they turn 18…then choose the name they want. I feel sorry for this kid, his life is going to be hell either way, from the kids in school taunting him or just life with his folks. *shakes head sadly*
