Yesterday morning, my boyfriend and I took little ChaCha to the vet to get spayed.

The vet was very kind. He used to show rabbits / was a breeder as a teenager (he no longer does it, but is experienced with rabbits). He looked into her carrier and thought she was a silver marten, but as soon as he saw the brown on the back of her neck, he said “Oh, shes an otter!!”

He weighed ChaCha, and she is her adult weight – 3 pounds, 11 oz

She is a big dwarf rabbit – with big personality

He said to switch her over to timothy as the alfalfa is very fattening and she is no longer a baby.

Her teeth are great, and he was very happy to answer all my questions.

I left worried like any other bun parent

I was told to call at 3 to see how she was doing. And she was hopping around

She stayed overnight to be watched, and I called at 9 am this morning and was told ChaCha didn’t eat yesterday, but ate a little today. The doctor suggested that ChaCha stay overnight again to make sure she is eating and pooping fine

        My poor little baby

That’s pretty typical to not eat after 24 hours. Vibes to Chacha. Sometimes they are more relaxed at home where they are familiar but I’m sure that your vet will take very good care of her.

I agree with Sarita that it’s very typical. I hope your vet takes good care of her!

Otto didn’t eat much the first day either and I was glad that he was at the vet in case of complications instead of at home making me worried 😛

Sounds like he is a good vet if he wants to keep an eye on her.

Yes, “spay-ters” are really tough on Bunnies and their parents! But, it sounds like she is acting normal!

Update: She hasn’t pooped yet. The doctor had asked me what kind of litter that I use. I think that they are using a different sort of litter that I don’t use at all :-/

I hope she gets to come home tomorrow.. I miss her lots.

I sometimes pet ChaCha while she is doing her business and she seems fine with it.. LOL. Perhaps you are right. I wish I could see her and comfort her
