When I check on Chacha in the morning and let her out in the afternoon, sometimes she’ll hop around me or the living room while making a soft grunting noise. Is that normal? It sounds reall quiet.. Does it mean that she is happy?

Is it like a hum of low buzzing? If it is, it means she’s happy AND hormonal ! lol

haha. You’ll hear it a bit at her age I imagine. The first time I heard it from Jersey, I thought it was her bones creaking! I was happy to hear it the other day because she’s older and spayed so if I hear it now I usually think it’s because she’s content.

                Hormonal.. eh?

She’ll be getting spayed on Thursday. The noise is so cute!

I don’t think it’s necessarilly hormonal, just happy. I have to add that some rabbits just ‘mumble’ without particular reason. :3 Binkles did this. All the time. There was never a time when she didn’t mumble. She was spayed too. My sweet baby just liked to talk to herself.

Over the past few days however I have also noticed that Peter mumbles when he is happy -when I am in his x-pen with him or when he’s playing with Little-Bit. It caught me off guard at first, because it sounds JUST like Binkles’ mumbles. God, what a throwback. Anyway, Peter is also neutered.

                    Yep, she wuvs you.

Spockie did it all the time. Sort of mm, mm. mm. mm. It was very cute.
As Binkles said, it may continue after spaying, but don’t be upset if it stops once she’s had the procedure. She still loves you, just not “that” way.

My rabbit ‘loves’ me in a different way rather than mommy-daughter?

Pam, yeah, she makes the noise like mm, mm, mm. Its so funny! I thought it was quiet snorting at first!!

I hope it doesn’t go away, its so cute

That’s exactly how to describe it. “mm, mm, mm, mm” Love it.

Otto did this to me a few times long after he was neutered, but I do think it’s a mating behavior 😛 It is super cute! And definitely means she lurves you.

My rabbit Gepetto does that. But I don’t think it’s hormonal because she’s five/six years old and spayed. In fact she’s snuggling with me and making that sound.

RabbitPam I agree mm,mm,mm,mm is the perfect way to describe it ?

I love that sound and I really love my rabbit. This is my first rabbit ever and I haven’t even had her for a whole year yet! Love her so much ❤️?

Hi Lil Dutch Bun, Welcome to the forums!

                              I also love that sound. : )

This is a pretty old thread. We ask that members do not reply to old threads (older then a couple months) as it can become confusing having old topics up in with the new ones.
I’ll lock this one now so no further replies will bump it up.
