        Hannah is smarter than me.

Yesterday while we were cleaning upstairs she got past the bunny proofing and behind the tv. My husband got her out, but we couldn’t figure out how she got back there. She hasn’t jumped any of the NIC fences yet and I’m making sure she doesn’t learn that she *can* jump them, so I hoped that wasn’t how she did it.

This morning I got to find out. There’s an NIC fence next to the tv that joins up with the stand. I thougth she maybe pushed it aside and snuck back. No. Instead, she got under the tv stand (pretty narrow) and army crawled through so that she came out behind the NIC fence. Needless to say, I now have NIC grids totally covering the front of the tv.

She also figured out how to get next to the couches where there are a lot of computer wires. She couldn’t push past the NIC grid, so she grabbed it and pulled it back until the gap was large enough. Apparently Otto was the first one through the gap  So I think we figured out a way to set up the grids so that she can’t pull them back. Backing up really isn’t a natural movement for bunnies, so I think it’s fairly impressive.

Every day she comes up with a new extremely clever way to get past bunny proofing. It’s not just jumping over fences or pushing through gaps. I think she’s planning a takeover!

Hatter used to pull back on my bunny proofing too….AND he jumped over his XPen one day….it’s amazing how smart and resourceful they are!

Speaking of backing up isn’t a normal movement, Otto proved it for me. He was on one side of the xpen door and I wanted to open it more so that it was wide open again. I pushed it gently against him, expecting him to move. He stood up, so it was pushing into his face, and almost fell over backwards from the gentle pressure. I laughed so hard! He just couldn’t figure out that pressure from the front means go the other direction. Hannah clearly has quite a few IQ points on him.

I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE that she pulled it out of the way and Otto went thru it. She’s gonna make him a bad boy, you just wait!

Hannah has a gang and she’s enlisted Otto into the ranks. He’s her minion now. It makes me scared for my safety 😛

There’s something about newly bonded bunnies…. I saw a little bit of troublemaking once my pair bonded too. You might find they’ll settle into a routine though and you’ll come trust them more.

Hannah was much less of a troublemaker when she living in the dining room. She can pretty much explore anywhere without limits in the kitchen and dining room. I think that since she’s confined to the living room, she spends all of her time trying to get into every little corner that she’s not supposed to be in. So I hope things go back to normal when she’s in the dining room!

now that is hilarious! a bunny tag team. lol.

took me a while to figure how pinky got past the NIC fence. turns out she was jumping onto her diggy box and then jumping over. in the process the box would get shoved across the floor and so it wasn’t obvious thats what was going on.

They’re too danged resourceful sometimes! Frankie gets into enough trouble alone. I can only imagine if he had an accomplice.

Otto’s a lousy accomplice, I must admit. But it’s pretty fascinating to watch them.

When Hannah wants to get around a fence, she really thinks about it. She first pushes her nose around the edge to see if she can move it or push through it. Then she grabs it and pushes and pulls. Her final thought is to crawl under something that isn’t blocked (tv stand, couch) and come out on the other side. I can see the wheels in her brain turning as she tries to figure this out and she’s constantly outsmarting me.

When Otto wants to get through a fence, he walks up to the very middle of it and pushes lightly with his nose 3 or 4 times. Then hops away. LOL He is just not that bright! Sometimes he’ll grab it with his teeth and move it a little, but he never seems to focus on the edges and corners the way Hannah does – he just randomly takse a stab at getting through, then gives up. His only contribution to their gang is to look cute and follow Hannah.

I’ve caught Otto sticking his head under the couch when he sees Hannah doing it, but he doesn’t seem to understand why he’s doing it and gives up quickly, even though he’s much smaller than her and could fit under there fairly easily.

Haha, he is a good boy. I’m glad I only have one bunny who needs to be watched like a hawk. Two conspirators would be too much!
