          Nope.

It’s not good for a bunny.

I’ve thought about it for mine since they free roam while I’m home and they’re so quiet that I sometimes don’t know where they are. But the risks are just too high – their bones are too fragile, and if the collar gets caught on something you’ll be in for a disaster.

My concern regarding collars are that they might either getting caught on something, or the bun tries to claw it off and breaks a leg. They’re really not necessary.

Wouldn’t-both what Beka said and what if they get caught on something-even a momentary catch could freak a bunny out enough for him to break his back. I know someone who’s quite versed in bunnies and trains them in bunny jumping-and had a bunny freak out and break his back. If a pro can have it happen-I wouldn’t chance it. Plus it’s not like they are going to get out of the house and need tags (microchip is the best solution if you are worried about that)

If you want to buy a collar, put it on, and take a picture-and your stuck on it-go for it. But take it off and never leave it on unsupervised

It could get caught on the cages… I’d say just don’t bother with collars. They’re more dangerous than they are worth.

Gather around, everybunny. Auntie Cambridge has a story to tell you.

Once upon a time, when Auntie Cambridge was just a little girl, her family brought her home a pair of flemmie mix babies. Auntie Cambridge, like any responsible pet owner, knew that it was important to keep collars on all pet doggies and kitties, so she decided to do the responsible thing and put collars on her bunnies.

Auntie Cambridge still remembers that blood-curdling bunny scream to this day.

The moral of this story is to make sure that five year olds don’t always make the best decisions–ER I MEAN!–put collars on bunnies. Yeah. Let’s go with the second one.

I sometimes tease my bunnies by putting this velcro collar on them, it looks so funny! But I never leave it on for more than a minute, I just think it is funny to see them wearing collars but currently Fern’s neck is either too fat or too fluffy to put it on her – i’m thinking it is because of the fulff.

But yea I agree with the others, I wouldn’t do it just because something bad could happen and I know that my bunnies did not particularly like the collar.

Well, my question is, why would you want too? They don’t make collars for rabbits anyway and there’s a reason for that – they shouldn’t wear them.

I know some people think they are cute, but rabbits have such short necks and collars really aren’t meant for bunnies. Plus their skin is sensitive and most bunnies have thinner fur on the back of their neck. Besides the “danger” reasons, even if that aspect was out of the picture, I don’t see how this would be comfortable or good for a bunny. It’s more for the “cute factor” but I think bunnies are just adorable all by themselves – So I always discourage collars.

Just for the record…. this thread was started from another thread from someone concerning harnesses… this is just to elaborate on the subject of collars, i would never actually put a coller on a bunny, its cruel… my cats dont even wear collars

i have a collar on mine at all times, it jingles so i know here he is. it is okay as long as its not too tight around his neck. make sure there is room to put 2 finger’s in the space. also those talking about the rabbit getting caught and hurting himself. aslong as you supervise the rabbit you shouldnt worry. vet said it was fine. just dont walk him with a cat/dog collar. get a soft harness

in my 116 years ive owned many bunnys. they all lived full lives and were happy. never had a problem with a collar

Vatar, this post is 5 years old – we ask that members do not respond to old posts and we absolutely do not recommend collars for rabbits either…
