Color me impressed! This doctor took the time out of her Sunday morning yesterday (the office isn’t open on weekends) to call ME and discuss Mimzy’s case! I wasn’t going to call them till today, but we went over his history and she said she’d leave word at the desk (because her clinic is so busy) that I was to get a slot to have them work on him this week. Good thing, since his appetite seems to be waning a bit and he’s really been snotty the last few days. (sounds like the spurs have regrown)

So she’ll take those xrays INSIDE his mouth and determine from that if he should have the teeth pulled or if something else is amiss. Keep your fingers crossed that this is it and finally Mimzy can get some relief from his more than a year long battle with his sinuses!

Of course, this is going to be a fun ride too, this vet is clear across the other side of Fairbanks (about equi-distant from town to the west as we are to the east) and we have to be there at 9:30 AM. (I am so NOT a morning person…zzzzzz) And the day before I have to go in to my dermatologist and have a hemangioma removed from my large toe. (ugh)

        Fun week ahead. Oy.

                    Hi, MM,
sorry about the delayed response – been kind of exhausted with de=installation this week.
It’s been a couple of days since you first posted. Have you taken Mimzy in yet?

Very eager to hear this vet’s take on him. Asking Sammy to cross her ears for him.

LOL RabbitPam you must be exhausted :~) It’s not April 2nd yet.

Yes MM, do let us know what the specialist says. I think you will find those x-rays extremely helpful. Pepe had those kinds of x-rays and a few appointments with a top notch dental specialist and my Emmy too. He will be in good hands.

Thanks Sarita. I notice you told Binkles in her thread about Little Bit that extraction is not a good idea for molars. Since it is possible the vet’s going to call me while Mimzy’s under and recommend them out, should I resist or go with it? I’m thinking in his case and exception should be made, since otherwise it looks like we’re going in every couple of weeks for trims.

I think you should discuss it with the dental vet.

But regular molar trims are no reason to extract molars as far as I am concerned as it could cause the other teeth to move and that could cause more problems.

I take Pepe every 4 to 6 weeks for trims. He has slight malocclusion – you need to get more information about MM’s problem to see what is recommended since at this point you don’t know anything. That will be the only way to make a good decision, based on facts and consultation with the specialist.
