Today a friend recommended the website Sparkpeople.com for tracking calories, fitness, weightloss, etc. Anyone else tried it? I’m really enjoying it!

For dinner tonight we had a casserole type thing – I was able to put all of the ingredients in as one “food group”, then give myself 0.16 of a serving (I cut it into twelve pieces, and had two of those pieces for dinner, so 1 casserole/12 total pieces*2 pieces for dinner=0.16 of a serving). And I saved that “food group” so I can easily add 0.08 servings for lunch tomorrow when I have just one piece. It’s pretty cool! It also has tons of processed foods, restaurant foods, etc to choose from and add to your diet.  It’s so hard to count calories when you cook and I love that I can enter some of the recipes I make every week and just estimate how much of that total I ate – instant calorie count.

It also keeps track of your goals (and there are lots of goal choices, not just ones involving weightloss or exercise) and you can input how much you’ve exercised, what you’ve done, and it will tell you if you reached your goal.

I know a few of us are trying to lose weight, so I wanted to post about this because it’s extremely helpful and I don’t remember anyone sharing it before.

I’ve never heard of it…I’ll take a look. I heard though, that if you cut back on beer too that helps (wink, wink :~)

I just signed up for it. It’s recommended by my doctor. A friend of mine also found out about it from her doctor. It’s very user friendly.

I’m one step ahead of you, Sarita. My first (and only, so far) dieting rule is No-drinking-on-weekdays-except-Friday 😀

oh i’m a member of sparkpeople! i loved it at first but then i kinda stopped exercising and watching my weight.. =\ but, that’s totally my fault and nothing to do with sparkpeople being ineffective. it’s a really great way to keep track of everything. i really like their recipes, too. i plan on using it again starting tomorrow, actually.

has anybody here ever been a member of curves? my sister joined and has lost 7 pounds in 2 weeks and i just joined because i’m at my heaviest right now and really need to get in a fitness routine i can do for the rest of my life (because i know i’ll have to always work to stay healthy). i go for my first workout tomorrow and fitness assessment and am reeeally excited.

so hopefully between that and using sparkpeople.com i’ll be able to get active and keep track of my diet a bit better.

and how am i supposed to drink less beer? we just bottled the cherry stout this evening!
