so MJ and i are spending a quiet afternoon at the house, me on the couch and him in a bunny loaf on his favorite perch in his condo. he’s been up there for about an hour now, obviously asleep – i can see his little eyes are closed and his nose is not going 90 mph like usual. so i’m surfing binkybunny threads when i hear

        “THWACK”

i peer over my computer screen to see him still in his bunny loaf, looking asleep. perhaps it was the floor of his cage kinda creaking and popping due to the house getting a little warmer as the sun comes out. i go back to reading.

        “THWACK”

i look up again, this time clearly realizing that he’s thumping. there’s no mistaking it. yet, i find him still in his little bunny loaf seemingly asleep!

        “THWACK”

the house is completely silent and there’s nothing going on outside. i’m very confused. so i go over there so make sure he’s okay and when i reach down to pet him he kind twitches a little bit like i just woke him up – somewhat surprised i was there. i petted him for a bit and he relaxed his head on the floor and seemed fine. when i walked away he flopped over on his side and has gone back to napping.

so do you think he was dreaming? that’s not a sign that he was in pain or anything, huh? he had his breakfast at 9 and his tummy doesn’t feel hard or anything so i don’t think he was upset that he had gas or anything. it really seems like he was having a bunny dream! i hope it wasn’t a bunny nightmare!

        anybody have this happen? thoughts?

Yup, buns dream.  Sometimes they even startle themselves awake.

mrmac on here posted a video a while back of one of her rabbits, Davey, showing his ‘sleep wobble’. I will see if I can find it. They defiinitely dream.

Here is that video I mentioned. I love this one; mrmac’s Davey is a teddy bear. I guess he is dreaming of food. You have to watch his wittle mouth.

yesterday my bun was tooth grinding in her sleep.
she was loud she sounded like a cement mixer! the funniest thing about it was she was doing it in a rhythm similar to human snoring.
                it was really adorable

Moose grooms his blankie in his sleep. Its quite funny Monkey also frequently flicks her feet in her sleep, cranky little bun

I should put Monkey under Moose’s face when he’s sleeping, ninja some grooming from him for her lol.

I can tell when they go into deep sleep (and I guess start dreaming).  Archie’s head will bounce all around.  Gracie actually starts snoring!  Like if you hold a rabbit and they get scared and make whining or wheezing noises (I guess that’s the best description for that….or maybe Gracie’s the only bun that does it).  I want to tape her so bad and did one time on the camera but the mic on my camera didn’t catch it and she wasn’t as loud.  Have to use the video camera one day.  I always think she’s having nightmares when she does that though…maybe of her previous owners

I’ve heard her snore over a loud tv once   I haven’t seen Sandy do anything yet…

Just yesterday Bunny was curled up on the floor while I watched tv.. his eyes were open but he clearly had fallen asleep and was dreaming. His face twitched and his eyebrows were goin and his lips were moving. It looked just like when a cat dreams. I slowly reached for my camera, and when it beeped on he sat up quickly but just as quickly he laid back down. he resumed his dream faces but I had to push another button to go to video mode and it woke him up. He yawned, stretched, flopped, and when on happily napping. So weird, too bad I missed getting a video.

Thor just scared the crap out of me. He was laying on his side with his eye’s partially closed and the white showing. His mouth was moving like crazy and he was making a crying noise while his legs were jerking. That was really scary until I figured it out that he was dreaming.
