My husband made the Woodstove Pellet trip yesterday.

20 minute drive to Lowe’s… 51 dollars… 8 bags of pellets.  Litter for an ENTIRE YEAR!!!

        I love saving money.

I know we have many new members on BB, so I just thought I’d throw that tidbit out there.  If you want to get WSP in the U.S. now would be the time to do it.

          I do too! I wish I only used 8 bags a year – I use a bag a week right now.

How do your rabbits like the pellets? I’m interested in trying new things to save money. Bun seems to really like soft bedding in her tray and when I switched from carefresh to aspen she hated it and hardly used her box so I had to switch back just for her tray. I don’t know if she would like pellets. Probably not =/ That stinker.

I know Monkey would hate them… its that nethie attitude I tell ya. Moose wouldn’t mind, the pellets are what he had at the rescue.

I think you are right Les…Seriously I had so much poop to clean up after Bun turned her nose up at the aspen. Now she’s happy again.

I love WSP! My store sells them year-round for 5$/40 lb bag. With my small litterbox and single bunny, 1 bag lasts 2 months.

My bunny likes the WSP just fine. Although I do  have a grate-topped litterbox. The pellets dissolve and become wood dust when they get wet.

Lintini, you might be able to get the other 2 onto it. That might help save some $’s. Also, you could try WSP then some carefresh on top for Bun. Though I’m already guessing she’ll have something to say about that!

I would also recommend trying a layer of WSP and then a thin sprinkle of carefresh on top. Even if only the other two will use the WSP… that is still a HUGE savings! Since the pellets expand when wet, you only need a single layer in the bottom of the tray. I lay down newspaper first, then one scoop of WSP and once I spread them out, I can clearly see the paper underneath. They expand so much, that when I dump the box, it’s almost half full of sawdust, but it’s still dry to the touch.

I want that deal, too… but here the WST never go on sale at all.
If I want to save, I have to use shredded newsprint.

Petzy with the rate that newspapers seem to be going out of business, I have to wonder when newspapers are going to be obsolete too.

I wonder how much the Yesterday’s News litter will sell for then?
                              I guess, I could use straw… ugh!

I use Equine Fresh pellets, it’s under $5 at the local Tractor Supply (but most farm stores will carry something similar), I want to say it’s $4.49 or something around there.. it’s also available all year round.  So if folks have access to a farm store, I’d definitely suggest looking into it.

We use the pellets from the feed store too. All natural for horse stalls, etc. And it was like $5 for a 40# bag and with one bun…. it will last awhile. Plus we are at Coastal Feed once a month minimum for chicken feed and bedding so easy to get the pellets.

I want to check into WSP. Hubby was concerned because some use additives in them. Are there brands out there of WSP that are better than others?

WSP brands are highly regional. Just look for ones with no accelerant.
