Hey everyone!
I’ve entered Leroy into Bissell’s MVP photo contest. (Bissell makes vaccums and stuff). The competition is 12 weeks long and the top 5 (most votes) are selected each week. Leroy is in week 4 (Jan 29-Feb 4). The weekly winner gets a Bissell vacuum (which, if I won, I’d be bouncing off the walls with happiness… Leroy is shedding right now and my stinking vacuum isn’t working properly — it’s not a Bissell. I’m trying to hold out from buying a vacuum though since they’re expensive
 
. Then Bissell selects the top 5 from all the weekly winners. And those winners get their pictures of the Bissell vacuum box and….1st place: $10,000 for a pet charity of their choice!
2nd place: $5000 for a pet charity of their choice!
3rd -5th place: $1000 for a pet charity of their choice!
If Leroy wins, OF COURSE I’d be donating the $$$ to a rabbit rescue!!!

You do have to make an “account” but it takes like 5 seconds, just your email and name and a password.

But sheesh… some of the entries are up close to 100 votes ALREADY. Voting just opened this morning at midnight! Something stinks….
Anyway, keep em coming! I know a bunny is a long shot, the other winners were mostly dogs, a few cats… but if we can get Leroy into the semifinals (he has to win his week) and Bissell looks at him…This is what they’re judging for:
Final winner selection will be on the basis of (1) condition of coat (33.3%), (2) expression (33.3%), and (3) overall appearance (33.3%), by representatives of Sponsor
Condition of coat – um… who doesn’t love that soft plushy rex fur!!!
Expression- anyone who’s ever gotten a stink eye from a bunny can attest to the fact that bunnies are incredibly expressive! Hehe, my favorite is his “wasn’t me” look when I catch him doing something naughty!
Overall appearance – maybe I’m biased but…. SQUEEEE!

Awww thanks Lucy, Lint, and Jers! I’m about to run out the door to a meeting, but just wanted to say we’re up to 22 votes now! I wasn’t able to check the current top pets… Bissell’s been having some trouble with their website, but I was told it’ll be up and running again soon! I don’t think there should be any problem with the direct link though

And for those of you who were going to email family/friends about Leroy’s contest, here’s a quick email I’ve been sending to friends if you want an idea of what to say…
I have a bunny rabbit; his name is Leroy. I adopted him this summer from the humane society, and despite his rough start, he is such a character and lots of fun. I entered Leroy in Bissell’s MVP photo contest (yes, I know this means that I’m turning into the “crazy rabbit lady” LOL). If he wins his week (Jan 29 – Feb 4th) he’ll go on to the finals and Bissell will select the top five pets. Those pets will get their picture taken and put on the box of a Bissell vacuum as well as money to donate to a pet charity.
First place gets $10,000!!! (2nd gets $5000, and 3rd-5th gets $1000). If Leroy wins, the money will be donated to a rabbit rescue.
I’ll get up on my little soapbox for a second… Not enough people know how to properly care for rabbits so they end up living outside in cold hutches at the mercy of the weather, cats, owls, raccoons, etc. Too many rabbits are given to kids as gifts, but once the novelty wears off, the rabbits are dumped at the shelter or “set free” outside. Even when people do keep their indoor rabbits for the rabbit’s whole life, the rabbits often are not cared for properly. And then of course, there’s the over population problem – not many people bother to spay/neuter their rabbits since they’re not typically seen as house pets like dogs or cats. So if Leroy wins, the money would be going to help rescue abused and abandoned rabbits, to support shelter rabbits while they wait for a forever home, and to help raise awareness about proper rabbit care.

I’m not sure why the full link ^above^ isn’t showing up when I post this. I keep going in and rewriting the address but when i submit my post, the link get’s abbreviated for some reason, but it works if you click on it… so if you copy/paste the email, please make sure that the link works like it’s supposed to.
ETA: If you guys haven’t noticed, I’m going to be updating this post fairly frequently though out the week so that it stays near the top of the list so that hopefully all the BBers who maybe hanven’t logged in or checked the lounge in the past few days see this.

Lol thanks Lintini. I was browsing through some of the posts to get a feel for the forum and saw something about drug dealers… I was confused
Btw… I just check. Leroy has 24 votes which is great! But… the current first place entrant has 193 and I know that vote count will top 200 soon. To at least place and be considered for Bissell’s $ to charities, Leroy has to be at least 5th place by the end of the week.. 5th place currently has 89 votes, so Leroy would need at least 66 votes to move into 5th place.
I’m doing what I can, and I’ve emailed everyone I can think of, but I doubt I’ll get votes from half of them.. that’s just how it goes. So keep up all your help everyone! Leroy and I really appreciate it. And all the bunnies will too if we place!
What do you guys think about my posting a whole bunch of flyers around campus… too far?

And yeah… I still say people were cheating and just sitting at their computers making up fake emails day and night for a week. I mean, come on. How could they go from 0 to 120 votes from midnight to 8 am the first day? Yeah… I’m not a sore loser, I promise! I just think something stinks, and it’s not Leroy’s litter box!
