  When I was 14 or 15 years old, I got completely into the sound of a band from San Francisco called Journey.
  
  Today is the (ex) lead singers’ birthday…I had the worst crush on him for years.
  
  He turned 61 today. 0_0 (pic is from his 59th)
  
  Jeez I feel old. Happy Birthday, Steve! You haven’t changed as much as I have…. And that’s totally unfair.

  LOL – Oh my gosh – I so remember Journey and Steve Perry. He was a goofball but he sure could sing. I don’t know, he looks like Barry Manilow in that picture.

  lmao…Yeah, I liked him better with long hair. But I am beginning to understand why, as we age, we’d rather cut our hair short, some of us. Mine’s almost to my waist again now and (even though I was bald 5 years ago) it’s driving me nuts and I want to hack it off. >_<

  I had to hear that song alot, my sister in law’s name is Sherri. xD
  I don’t know if I liked his solo stuff as much as the songs he sang with the band. Although I was fond of that one released b-side called “If Only For the Moment, Girl.”
  I remember when I found out that Sam Cooke was one of his influences and I listened to some of the old tunes Sam did and was amazed that Steve emulated his voice pretty well. He copied that musical inflection Sam would use at the ends of a lyric and made it his own, really.
  
  I was just reading the Wiki article on him and I had no idea he’d had a degenerative bone disease that had caused his hip problems. Which is weird because my husband has something like that too. 0_o Hubby doesn’t sing tho’…lol.
