You know .    ..    I was just thinking about my water filter I put in the frigie pitcher the brita kind.   I haven’t had one in well about a year.

I wonder if that is what is irritating Cottons lip.    His chin is wet along with his whole mouth area even up to the nose after he drinks water.  Could it be the water sits  at his bottom lip on the edge of the fur and irritates his lip?

Wouldn’t that be something if that was the problem all along.     I am going to make absolutely sure I get Brita filters  2/1.

All the treatments and not cured.  Then if it clears up to find out it was the water.   lol.     Worth a shot  right

Worth a shot. I use a Brita filter too. I just had a quick look at my filter box. It says it reduces chlorine, organic impurities, aluminium, & some heavy metals.  I almost wish this was the reason because it so easy to remedy!
Sometimes I think perhaps there’s a foreign body stuck in his lip that’s not making it’s way out.

BT, I’m sure I posted about this but can’t find where. There’s a cream I thought you could ask your vet about called Heal-X. I think MimzMum may have mentioned it. I found this ad in a vet journal on it. It also has some case studies (warning: with pictures!) on the links to the right.

At this point – I think anything is worth considering.

The mystery of Cotton’s lip continues. I hope this time you guessed it right, Bunnytowne!
–I have been looking for literature on the effects of certain types of water on rabbit heallth but came up empty. I had read that livestock can be affected by hard water, i.e. it can lead to urinary stones. I asked my vet then if it would be safe to give my rabbits the welll water we have as it is loaded with certain salts. My vet didn’t know but I don’t give the well water just to be safe.

Yes Petzy I have not quite given up on it yet.   I stop obsessing over it and I seem to come up with this water thing once I wasn’t focused on it so much.

If the water thing doesnt’ work  then the healX cream is the next option.   That poor Cotton Boo.

I had forgotten Ruby’s door open and went into the bedroom.  Of course Cotton runs over there and they get into a tiff.  I heard the door making racket and ran right over.  Ruby was at the door but still in her cage and Cotton was on the floor standing in the door but not in her cage.

NO harm done thank goodness. I checked his lip
