So, I have just figured my bunnies were getting older so they were just more mellow  - more senior snooze time.  They may get up to play a little during the day, but  they are big loungers these days.  (though I do hear them in the morning hopping around and chewing)  But what I didn’t know really was what happened from 3am – 7am…until now.

My husband and I are sleeping in the bunnyroom right now because his family is visiting for Thanksgiving.   Well, after sleeping in there now for three nights, I have discovered that my senior bunnies are running around, playing, chewing just busy bunny stuff like young kits.  One night they were being so noisy that i put a willow cube inside of their hidey house to chew on. I figured they would chew on that inside and just keep busy, yet be a bit more quiet.   Well, that kept them busy for an hour, then I heard running and jumping, and more chewing on toys, eating hay, lots of visits to the litterbox and just non-stop bunny fun.

In the morning I noticed they had chewed apart the willow cube and carried the larger pieces outside of the hutch to finish chewing on.

Makes me happy  that they are still hopping around and enjoying life.  Just wish they would do it during the day so I could witness it more often.

You just need to be more nocturnal. Freya is super busy that late at night too. Hopefully you won’t have company for too long so you can get your room back for a good night of sleep. You are a great person giving up your own room for a guest, I can’t imagine ever doing that for anyone. Pull out couches and airbeds are great investments if family visits often.

The bunny room is actually a nice place to stay – roomy, compfy and it has big fluffly compfy futon that pulls out, so it’s not to bad, but I wouldn’t want a guest to stay in there. Jack is pretty territorial and if anyone comes in that’s new and stays for too long, he has to spray the place. and if they slept in there, well, I have no doubt they would get sprayed too. So not the most welcoming guest room. LOL So, it’s just better if we sleep in there as we won’t get assaulted and the bunny room stays spray free.

I am a late nighter too, (I struggle to fall asleep before 2 -3am) and though they are more active, they are truly nutty active after 3am. I usually get to sleep by 3am (though even during my extreme extremes of late night, i don’t remember them being so active.) Maybe Jack’s glucosamine treatment is working well as his aches and pains definitely aren’t bothering him from what I can tell!!

I need to get a night vision webcams when they have the bunny room back to themselves so people can tune in and see nutty bunny time. Right now one of the USB cables was chewed on by Vivian (the ONE two inch section that I THOUGHT was hidden up behind a cabinet.) She pulled it down, and chomped away, so that shorted out all the webcams. Naughty Nutty Night Bunnies!

Lol yea BB…it’s been interesting with 2 of them in my bedroom. Bun is usually pretty quiet…but Indy does laps in his cage and as he is getting bigger…the laps are getting louder lol. I even just posted about Indy making a raucous and waking me! You should ask for night vision cam’s for Xmas!!! That would be neato!!! Buns in night vision! Okay i’m going to lay down now, getting way to excited about that.

I feel soooooo lucky with Eclipse. There are some wires that I know she could get to if she really wanted to, but even when the boyfriend has left wires dangling in the most tempting manner she has ignored them. I am very thankful for her being an odd little one.

Now I know that rabbits are supposed to be crepuscular, awake mostly at dawn and dusk, but I honestly think that rabbits take that to mean “party from dawn to dusk”. I think this is especially true for house rabbits, as not only are they more comfortable, but they tend to have toys, and it’s like a kid that doesn’t have a parent to tell them to go to bed (no matter how much we might grumble at them to do so). A long time ago when I was a little kid we had hutch rabbits, and whenever we went out in the middle of the night (don’t ask why, I really don’t know) they would be asleep, so that also backs the theory that house rabbits are just more comfortable. Of course night vision cams would be awesome! Now you have me wanting to get some night vision cams and set them up for house buns (in both cages and with free run) and outside buns (in both hutches and large enclosures) so I can see the difference in activity and make a scientific paper on the differences.

BB! This is funny to me…I don’t know if you saw it but I posted this pic of Vivi a few months back when there was probs with the webcams.

Wow! I made an accurate prediction!   Though it’s not hard to predict a bunny will chew a cable at some point!

HAHAHA! You guys are funny! And Jerseygirl – ROTFLMAO! You must have psychic bunny powers!

We actually got a new USB cable today, and tested it out. We have to make some adjustments but the cams should be back up Sunday when we have some time.

Lintini – Night Vision webcams for Christmas – GOOD IDEA!

I’m glad they are getting their activity time. They must be more of the nightclub type senior bunnies – party all night and sleep in late.
