For those that might remember, Aeryn is quite an escape artist.  When we first put in the NIC condo we had 1 clip on the side of door and she figured out that she could take a piece of wood (rectangular chewing block) and use it as a battering ram to break the door open.  So we put 2 clips on the side, and one to the panel on top which is also a door grid (we’ve got the doorway 3 grids tall) and we thought it was pretty secure.  No problems for over a year, aside from her occasionally escaping onto the plywood on top.

Last week I was in the livingroom and I could hear the clips being rattled for quite a while and I thought that’s odd it sounds almost like they’re being opened.  After a while I went to check on things, just in time to see Aeryn push the door open and hop out!  How on earth she got the clips off I have no idea – they were still attached to the door panel.  That’s one smart bunny!

She’s also been quite intent on going upstairs, where she’s not allowed because there are a great many unprotected cords.  I put a baby gate up at the top of the stairs, and one along the railing at the side, and piled some stuff up at the curve of the railing to keep her from squeezing through there.  A few days ago I was out and Scooter was home and when I came home I said wait a minute, where’s Aeryn?  She’d knocked down the pile at the curve and bolted through the railing, so that she could get to some of those wonderful delicious wires.

        She’s such a trouble maker!

haha! she sounds so mischievous! when bunnies know what they want they really don’t give up easily. they’re so good at strategizing, too! the first time mj decided to break out of his cage was when we went on a weekend trip. thankfully our neighbor came to check on him only a few hours after we left so he probably wasn’t out very long. silly bunnies..

Clever bun! Might keep an eye on her – sounds like she might outsmart you one day and take over the house Great to have a bunny with such a big personality.

LOL….I know what you are going through….Bailey does the same thing!!! She tests the cage (NIC condo) and checks to see if she can lift the door, so we had to put a lock on it…..sneaky girl!! One day she did find a way out and she was hopping around the kitchen like, hi mom!!

I think you need to stay 2 steps ahead of Aeryn, she’s going to keep you on your toes

Hahaha what a clever funny bunny. Sophie was just like that! Idk how but she always managed to get out of her cage when we left the apt. So I just let her free roam all the time lol thank goodness she’s got good litter box habits O_O
