GRR just lost my post!!!!!  My fault though

So I was walking a few blocks home and a kitten meowed and started toward me.  I of course ‘awwwwwed’ and crouched down to pet it.  The poor thing’s back leg is broken or twisted or something.  So scopped it up and brought it home!  It has 2×3 NIC penned in area now, small I know but its really all I have left.  My room is such a maze of bunny stuff and bunny cages and NIC barriers its crazy!  I can not afford an emergency vet bill for an animal that I didnt commit to, I cant do it and still be in the safety area for bunny funds.  So it will have to wait till tomorrow evening, hopefully I can afford to help it out a bit.  My mom doesnt know yet, everybun cross your ears!  I dont think she’ll let me keep it, I did just get Mae.  But I dont think she would be to opposed to letting me foster it at least.  Its so cute!  It tries to hobble and follow me everywhere so I just carry it with me now so it will stop hopping around.  Dont know if its a he or she yet, havent looked and its sleeping right now and id rather it rested.

It looks like my baby Merry!!!! If you can keep it, it is like seriously the best color cat (I have a theory about cat colors being linked to personality). It is adorable to epic proportions. I am so glad that you are helping it! If I could I would come and steal it from you!

Good grief! 0_o This kitty is the spitting (no pun intended) image of my first kitten, Peanuts. What a sweetie!
Poor baby must’ve been unwanted because of it’s gimpy leg. Not that people need an excuse to abandon a sweet ball of fluff these days. Luckily kitty found you to ask for help!
I hope your mom will be able to allow you to foster this little kitty. There must be some reason he/she was placed in your path.

One thing-if you turn the kitten in to a vet-it generally (here for sure-call first) won’t cost you anything-they’ll treat and send it off to a shelter; here at least-may be differnt but you might want to check it out if vet visit isn’t in the budget.

THANK you for bringing kitten home-so many may have just been ‘oh w/e’ but you made the whole world of difference for her/himF *HUGS*

Oh and on your mom not knowing about the kitten in your room….

My dad came home once…asked my mom if she knew where the dog was…she didn’t-said she was around…He says the dog is hanging out at my bedroom door because my bedroom was meowing.. SO BUSTED lol

I am willing to bet that that poor kitten has hip problems that is making his little leg look all twisted around. my Sasha is that way from the spina bifida, her one back leg looks twisted all around and gives the impression that she has a broken leg. He is a very cute kitten. He is going to grow into a really cool cat. Those kinds of cats are extremely smart. He has it in his face.

I love red cats! Gorgeous kitten.

Put up some posters in your area so the owners can get their kitten back. It has probably gone wandering and has been in an accident while on the loose. I hope you find the owners. They might be really worried.

^^ I really doubt that he (offical he) was someones pet. He is only 8 weeks old and I saw what could have been his mom today, pretty sure he is a stray.

Jersey- Lol I was four when I smuggled my first kitten home.

Back from the vet! Okay so he got an AIDS and cancer test because apparently most stray have it and can be passed to other kitties so just to check before we did anything else. Thankfully they both came back negative or I would have had to put him down or release him back outside. Then they did a few xrays, his femar (sp?) in his back leg is broken. Not broken like snapped in half, but broken like sliced down the middle. How did that happen? Blunt force trama. By a car? No, a tire could not have only gotten that one bone in that way. Most likely some ass kicked him and he broke that way. They cant do a cast because they cant stabilize his hip. Opitions being a pin in his leg, costing $600. Make him three legged for $400. Or super strict bed rest for a month and cross your fingers. It toke me forever to decide and im still not sure but i went for bed rest. He is in a 2×2 cage for a month, it will either heal properly and he will be normal, heal wrong and he will always have a wierd walk, or wont heal at all and the opition for a pin will be gone and he will have to be three legged. I dont know what to do, I want the pin but I dont know that I can spend $600. I have the money, Im just struggling with the fact that its the buns money. Then he got vaccinations, deworming, a flea pill, fecal float, penicillin injection, pain injection, metacam to go home on and pain meds to go home on too for the next 16 days. Then I had to buy a round of flea meds for the buns because he was in my room! Buns get the kitten verision of revolution right? This vet isnt for exotics so they looked it up for me. He goes back in a month for more xrays to see how things are. If he is healed up he is good to go, with or without a limp. If he isnt healed then we decide if he gets another round of bed rest or if he is destined to be three legged. I called rescues today, nobody takes strays. They will take him if I claim ownership and surrender him, but then Im looking at a lot of questions on how MY kitten was abused on my watch. Plus I refuse to surrender a pet, even though thats not the true case here. So he stays, and my mom seems okay with it i guess. She is still upset that he is here but knows there isnt anything else to do. So adding up all his bills, after every discount and lie the vet could do plus our running 10% discount on my account, it was $230+. Still no name, Im considering Cain (get it? as in a cane). But thats the only thing thats poped in my mind so far. My cats hate him, dogs love him, Lucy wants to kill him, Hammer is unsure but perfer he saty away, Mae just wants him to respect her bubble.

Ahh Bunnyliz you sound just like me. I was tempted to steal this “teenage” kitten from the barn today since he spent an entire hour following me everywhere and was CLIMBING – YES CLIMBING up my jean pants for me to carry him like a baby. They are taking care of him though…but I can’t help but think what a nice indoor spoiled kitty he would make! Anyways – I think it’s awesome that you took in this kitten, he really needed help and I am so glad there are people like you who will lend a helping hand to an innocent animal in need of care. I know we would all love to see more photos of him. He looks like a “Rusty” to me for a name. Very very cute. Time to get out the pokie stick for more pictures!! *poke poke*

You are an angel for spending money on a stray kitty! How sad that someone probably kicked him. Who could do that? When I see a kitten I just wanna snuggle and kiss them!

                                        More pics of kitty please…

Sorry no pics for awhile guys. My bitten laptop charger finally gave up on me, and now im using a super slow old computer Im not very familiar with. Will get a cord this weekend hopefully.

Anyway I was still not set on the cage rest decision, I just kept thinking that Im not doing right by him. So called the owner of the vet hospital to see if he could lower the pin surgery at all and Ill try to make a decision from there. Well he says his opinion is that he needs this pin surgery right now, it shouldnt wait and its risking his leg to just leave him on bed rest. So he is going to do the surgery at a different clinic he owns (much farther away) and will help me out and do it for around $300! Im still dropping over $500 on a cat that wasnt even mine but this way Im not risking anything and he will recover and be able to play in less then two weeks if everything goes well. My mom got a Care Credit in her name for me so I can pay it off over some time and have it ready in case the buns ever need it anyway. So I leave in two hours to go to a diiferent vet and pick up his xrays and then drive him all the way to the other clinic where he will stay the night and have surgery in the morning. Poor kitty. Through the grape vine of my family and their friends I found out he has been alone, outside, with a broken leg for at least 4 days and has traveled a bit of distance for a injuried kitten. I think it is so sad that I am the only one to care for him after he has been in this condition for days and surely many people have seen him.

It happens. Sometimes a lil guy just crawls into your heart and eventhough you’re not going to keep them, you’ll do anything for them. I think I have spent over $1,000 in the past year on Tippy and Nadia and I’ll probably spend more unless they get adopted.

Don’t rule out the three leg option! I had a 3 legged cat and he did just fine. Didn’t hardly notice it was gone. Since he is so young he would adapt just fine to having only 3 legs. There is also a much greater risk with the pins that he will get arthritis and have to have it amputated later on down the line anyways. Just my 2 cents. I am so glad that he came back negative for feline leukemia and feline aids! We have lost two rescue cats to one or the other. You are doing such a great thing for this little kitten! We live in such a cruel world, that no one would help such a poor, innocent little creature!

Yea I did consider just taking the whole leg off because it was cheaper. They said since he was so young he wouldnt ever know the difference and would do great. But they also said he would get arthritis down the road if he was three legged. I didnt know it was still a risk with the pin. Oh well, he is at the vet now and will have surgery bright and early in the morning.

How can people be so cruel as to see this poor thing in distress for 4 days and not help? That’s just sad.

But how cool that this vet is going to help you with the expensive surgery! That’s excellent!

I was told when my cat broke his leg that the pins, if not done just right, would cause more damage than good (and at over $1000 it wasn’t an option anyways). But this little guy is a lot younger, so I have confidence that he will make a great recovery! If the pins are done right (and technology has probably improved a little since my cat), then it probably will be better for him in the long run. I do think that you are making the right choice, but I thought I’d throw that out there anyways. He is much better off with you, regardless of what you would have done. Even if you had chosen to just give him bed-rest he would be better doing that than continuing to wander the streets, falling prey to who knows what! Thank you again for taking such good care of this little creature. You are a wonderful person.

                                                        Update time!
We are home now and he did fine! This clinic we had to go to is a ways way, so we had a bit of a drive. When we got home last night we had a messgae from the vet, they had a question about his meds, but they were already closed by the time we got home to the message. We found out today when we picked him up that they over dosed him on metacam last night! What?! Luckily someone caught it soon enough to save him, or else he would have died. Then they tried to charge me for that treatment, but the manager toke care of that. So now he cant have metacam for quite awhile, maybe ever, we have to talk to the dr. about that. I went back to get him and they had him in a toaster intensive care unit thing. But anyways he has a cone on his head for two weeks and bed rest. Then we go back to get his stitches out and see if they have to remove the pin down the road sometime. Gotta go now, kitty is crying!

That’s horrible! Overdosing him on metacam… Well, I suppose that humans are overdosed all the time in hospitals. Mistakes happen. I’m glad they caught it though! Give him some love! Have you become completely attached to him yet? lol.

Have you become completely attached to him yet? lol.

HE is attached to ME!  Goodness I cant get anything done.  He follows me into every room and around every room, and he absolutely has to be touching me to sleep.  If he isnt next to me he cries and cries till I pick him up on the couch or take him out of his cage.  He must be in my face at all times, gosh its so annoying!!!  But yes im attached too, just not literally attached like he thinks we are.  I love him and all, but geez I can hardly breath lol.

Still no name, ive been trying a few but havent found anything I like yet so he remains “kitty.”  He has been more alert and trying to be active today.  I let him play around for a few minutes and then I make him settle down, he loves his crinkle mouse the best.  Not many pics yet, im super duper busy.

OMG JERSEY!  You read my mind, seriously!  Thats his trial name of the day and I think I like it.  Just today I was thinking of the other cats from Arisocats to go with Toluz (How sweet you remembered his name too) and then started thinking of going with a Disney theme since I love Disney.  Timon was the one I came up with that I liked the most so thats been his name for the day.  Lol wierd… its got to be a sign though, so as of right now he is Timon.   Poor Tiger (other cat) will be out of the little Disney loop.

I like the name Timon too! The Lion King is one of my faves! This is pretty obvious, and I know other people that have named their cats this but I love it, so what about Simba?

Yea Simba was an option, I just love Timon’s personality in the lion king! In the end I ruled it out because I like somewhat uncommon names, but ones that arent way out there either, hence Hammer lol. And then I get Lucy, which is so annoyingly common, but hey I was still getting over Rose and just wanted to name her quickly! And I Love Lucy is my fav show… so thats how that happened.

Kiley Rose- doesnt that cone just look so darn cute! Thats the smallest one they have, and we had to cut it and tape it to fit lol. And then that old pink collar from who knows which pet I found to fit him. I keep all my collars because they will eventually fit one of my pets!

She acted the exact same after her spay..minus the hissing/biting
