Also look at the link to see the bunny.

This was on another list I am on – I wish I had more info about this.

LOL – I just had to look again in that second photo to spot the little cutie – I could not find him at first. If anyone heard this story I’d love to know more about it. It is on NPR which I listen too, so I guess I should search out there too.

Okay, sad, CIB fell prey to a fox and she gave him a soldier’s burial. Apparently CIB was Carolyn Shapper’s best friend and when her base was hit with mortar her first thoughts went to CIB. I love that she had him for comfort but sad that he is gone. He must have been some rabbit.

So cute! I * think * I spotted him too!

Sarita, where’d you find that info? I was looking for more info on CIB and his mommy, but couldn’t find anything other than reprints of that article…

Gosh, it survives a base attack but falls to a fox.  Binky Free CIB

Thanks for the story Sarita. I like how it says: “After familiarizing with his looks (top), see if you can spot Combat Bunny helping out with patrol.”

He’s where the soldier if looking!  haha – I love that the soldiers eyes are on the bunny and not surveying….bunnies have a way of winning all our attention that’s for sure!

I really like that. Thanks so much. It did take me also a second or so to spot his sweet little head poking up in the army vehicle.

Oh, I forgot to add, maybe they can train him to attack like that sweet little bunny in Monty Pythons “Holy Grail”!

Yes Desma that is cure.    OH I like to hear NPR too Sarita.   I gave my one good working noise box to my neighbor not knowing hubby’s doesn’t work so well.   I need to get a new one ot hear NPR

Poor CIB  a fox.  Awe.  Maybe she can get another bunny.

You know thats how I feel about Cotton.  I sometimes think if   I go somewhere and there is a fire and he is loose in the house he could burn up not being catchable.  I also hate to put him in his house when we are gone too.

Here’s the first thing I thought of when I saw the picture:

“Wow, wonder what that rabbit’s gonna do when the gun goes off – not to mention that it’s sitting right where all the hot shells are ejected.”

I have a friend who is an ex-army person who also is a big bun lover. He actually was rather sad when he read about CIB’s ending.

Desma, that picture was the first thing I thought of when reading this post. Wow, a bunny who lived with the infantry. That has to have been one amazing rabbit!
Probably got used to the sounds of shells going off if an Iraqi boy was selling them to the soldiers. That’s a noisy area of the world and for a long time now, too.
BT, I know what you mean. Any time I go into town I pray for the safety of all my companion animals, because no one would be here to help them escape if the house were to burn down or any other tragedy befell it. My heart sinks each time I leave and rises again when I come back to find all is well.

But a rabbit living with combat is something I cannot fathom in the least. Yes, even the dogs too…to live with and work along with the army in such a situation…that she gave the bunny a soldier’s burial is sweet.
                                  Binky free, CIB…SIR! *salutes*
