Can anyone tell me the typical price for a spay for a rabbit? I have never gotten a small animal spayed/neutered before. I am looking for vets now in the area, I work at PetSmart as a Dog groomer so we have a banfield in our store that does small animals and they said probably around 240 with pain meds. I dont know most of the other vets in the area that do small animals so will have to actually go in and see their facilities and talk to them before I actually decide (very picky about vets, but I think that should be the case for everyone looking for a vet for their pet! lol). The vet I take my dogs to, only does dogs and cats and some of the people I work with either go to a vet I personally dont approve of or go to the same vet as I do for their dog/cat haha.  I am just trying to get a rough idea so im not paying too much or anything. Also any questions in particular I should ask a vet when looking for one for Loki?  Thank you in advance

I just got Monkey done today, and it cost about $240 total, it included pain meds for after I brought her home, blood work previously, and subcutaneous fluids. A complementary nail trim was done while she was under Without the extras it would have been $160, but I DO recommend the other stuff, just for peace of mind in case something goes wrong, which hopefully it wont

$118 is the cheapest near me and that is no pain meds and does not include a follow up then you go up in price and service to $220 which includes pain meds and follow up visit right up to $300 which includes everything and a 3 day stay at a bunny boarding for monitoring.

It really all depends on where you are located and the vets near you. When I got my girl spayed it was like $100, I am pretty sure. When I got Davey and Delilah altered the total cost for both of them was about $200, or a little under that, which included pain meds for both of them. I would ask how many rabbit alterations they have done, or which vet has done the most or is mist familiar with rabbits and their success rate in each of these. Basically make sure they know about rabbits, and they do not ask you to fast them before the surgery.

I agree with mrmac. I used my local vet for Bugz as he has done lots of male rabbits but would not do Anya my female so i am going to the Rabbit Clinic for her after hearing all the things that could go wrong!

ok thanks guys! I think I am going to go with an animal clinic down the road. Its 265 for pain meds, a cathedor (cant spell) for the day while she is there and I got to talk to the vet and she is the one who does all kinds of exotic animals and has done numerous rabbit spays. She did tell me about not being able to fast her before the surgery. So after the holidays I will be getting her spayed!

Glad you found a good place and a good vet! 265 is pretty reasonable, a pretty average price. It’s so much better having a vet that you are comfortable with!

$265 sounds like a very reasonable price and your vet sounds very experienced. Good luck to Loki!

Yeah! Just make sure everything is included. When I was shopping around I found a rabbit clinic that quoted me $118 but then I started talking to them and they said that if I wanted this it would be an extra $40 and pain meds where another $50 and then the follow up visit would be $60 and all of a sudden I was up near $350 for the care I wanted for my girl. The other place is $220 but included everything so I always double check now
