hi there!  I’ve been benefiting from your advice for several months, and wanted to say hi officially!  My name is Meg and I live in Ann Arbor, MI.

Here are my beloved cute little bunnies: Athena (left) and Teddy (right)

I got Athena from a shelter this past May; she’s now a year and 2 months.  After thinking I couldn’t afford a second bunny for a few years (I’m a grad student), I lasted all of 3 months, and got Teddy from another shelter in August.  (;  He’s five months old now.  Both bunnies were fixed while at their shelters.

Athena is a very playful, quick, and clever little bunny, though also kind of shy and easily frightened by unfamiliar things.  She hates it when I cook and/or eat (unless it’s a banana)!  But she is just a little love, very cuddly and will take affection over treats (unless it’s a banana).  (;  She was a little unsure about this baby boy at first, but after a few days she decided he was *her* baby, and now she loves to wash his face and snuggle with him (see below).

Teddy loved Athena at first sight, and is still as devoted to her as a clueless teenage boy can be.  (;  He grooms her as well, although he’s easily distracted by toys and new things to explore.  He’s a brave investigator, and will usually check out a room first in case there’s a new object in it, and he’s not easily frightened.  He does seem to need Athena to help him find the food, though.  He’s still not sure what humans are for (other than providing bits of banana), and will only sometimes tolerate a little petting — but I’m hoping he’ll warm to me when he grows up.

I’ve always loved bunnies, though I hadn’t gotten to meet many before… but they are so cute, and as a pacifist vegetarian I felt I could relate to them.  (;  It turns out my boyfriend loves bunnies as well, and we started talking about them more…  I’m a grad student, relatively young and very poor, so I thought I couldn’t afford them (especially since they’re happiest in pairs or more) — but then this summer I just decided to make it work.  (;  I’m sooo happy I did — I can’t possibly express how much joy these bunnies bring me, and how precious they are to me.  I love them sooo much!!

Welcome to BinkyBunyy! Oh what adorable little sweethearts! How neat that even though they came to you at different times, you seem to have a matched set there.
Thank you for adopting these two and giving them a loving forever home. I look forward to hearing all about their antics (especially the ones with the bananas…lol) and seeing more pictures, please! You’ll find that as many snapshots as possible are required in droves by all members on the board.
Again, welcome, and enjoy your stay here!

Welcome to BB! They are adorable! So cute together! My bunnies hate it when I cook. Mine go NUTS for a bite of banana too!

Oh my gosh! They are so darn cute. I’m glad that they bonded so fast for you too. It’s funny watching bonded bunnies groom each other too.

Thank you all so much! I’m so grateful for the forum!! From what I’d read about teenage buns, I wasn’t sure at first if I should get Athena since she was a teenager at the time and I was a first-timer, but the kind bunny folks on the forum reassured me and I’m SO glad!! She is the perfect bunny for me and I can’t imagine not having gotten her!!

OK, I’m happy to share more pictures!

                  Athena tasting Teddy’s ear:

I call this pose The Figure Eight:

Bunny intrigue: soon after bonding I find Athena snuggling with the toy “stunt double” bunny I’d used to introduce her scent to Teddy, instead of with him.  Does this mean Teddy (condo, 2nd floor) is in the doghouse?

Every morning, the bunnies campaign for me to let them out to play before I brush my teeth or anything.  Here they are, sending their tractor beams of cuteness to draw me in:

Welcome to Binky Bunny!  Athena’s nose is so cute- and Teddy looks like a cuddle little ball of love!  I am glad to see another Michigan member- though I am over in SW Michigan.
