Has anyone carved their pumpkin for Halloween yet?  We’re carving 2 and I got the first one done tonight.  My mom had the pattern and I just had to carve it, it was too cute!

That’s great! It’s even got a the little tail. It’s that time again. Halloween isn’t that big here but I enjoyed seeing peoples carvings last year on this site. I remember Annette (ScooterandAnnette) had some really great stuff!

I’d carva a pumpkin, but being in an apartment, wouldn’t make much sense to Once I make the hubby buy a house, I’ll carve tons every year

I’ll start my carving next week, probably Monday. In the meantime I think I’ve more or less got my pumpkins planned out

That one wasn’t from pumpkin masters but I always end up getting a pumpkin masters book with templates and carving stuff with it.  They have all kinds and some of them are pretty easy with just a simple face to a hard one that’s like a witch or something.  I’ll post my other pumpkin once I get it done tonight or tomorrow.

That’s awesome skibunny! I always say I’m going to get some stencils and carve some amazing pumpkins, but I always talk myself out of it when I remember that I’m so not artistically inclined. Lol I do love buying pumpkins though whether we carve them or not 🙂

for some great patterns. Lots of free ones but some fabulous ones that require membership, which is something like $8 for a whole year.

                          LOVE it!!!

Is it too early to carve? I heard you could only do it a couple days ahead…it’s been years obviously LOL

Where does one get patterns? Can you print them off the internet??

I bought two pumpkins, one for me and one for Dave. But then I decided he doesn’t get one, because I have two design Ideas:

                          One-scary bunny

And two-puking pumpkin. I’ve done this before and the kids think it’s hilarious.

Oh-OT-Mikey is going to be a Pirate this year!!

Aw he looks so cute KK!  You can buy the patterns at like walmart, target, any craft store, k-mart.  I bought a fake pumpkin at Michaels (they’re made out of foam and are harder to cut) and did a simple face on that, so we can put one in the window too.  Oh neat website, I will check that out more later…I have to start doing dishes before hubby wakes up

KK, check out the website I posted a little earlier. Lots of patterns on there, and it’s really not as hard as it looks! Actually I find the shading technique easier than actually cutting into the pumpkin, I usually end up cutting myself in the process if I try to do it that way!   The website not only has a bunch of patterns but also some really good instructions.

As for keeping the pumpkins fresh, there are a few tricks. You can put a thin coat of vaseline on the cut areas to keep them from drying out. And you can spray the pumpkin (inside and out) with lysol or a water/bleach solution to try and keep it from going bad too quickly. And some of the real dedicated carvers will bag them in plastic and put them in the fridge but you obviously need a pretty big fridge if you’re going to do that!

So cute! I don’t think I’m doing anything this year for Halloween. My first year of not trying to even do anything. Oh, wait, I know what I’ll be doing for Halloween, I’ll be doing a California History exam. Lucky me!
